County had the first chance of the second half. Malcolm made room on the edge of the area and fired off a powerful shot, but Henderson was up to the task.

The home side came close again on 52 minutes. Briggs planted a thumping header goalwards following a corner from the right, but Kisnorbo was there to clear off his own line.

Substitute Levi Porter was unlucky not to give Leicester the lead on 69 minutes. The pint-sized winger cut inside from the left and fired in a fierce cross-cum-shot, but Spencer was able to make the block.

City: Paul Henderson, Richard Stearman (Alan Maybury 72), Gareth McAuley, Patrick Kisnorbo (c), Nils-Eric Johansson (Alan Sheehan 72), Josh Low, Andy Johnson (Williams 60), Stephen Hughes, Danny Tiatto (Levi Porter 67), Chris O'Grady (Iain Hume 67), Elvis Hammond (Matty Fryatt 67).

The game was evenly matched, and next it was Stockport's turn to come close. Damien Allen beat the off-side trap and tried his luck from the edge of the area on 79 minutes, but Henderson was on hand to pull off a fine save.

But it would be Leicester who would take the lead with seven minutes of the game remaining - Gareth Williams curling a sublime free-kick around the Stockport wall from 25 yards and giving Spencer no chance.

Gazwill has rescued my vcash...

still.. not overly impressive if we can just scrape victory at the death against two lower league clubs in the last few games is it? =/

That means all 4 of our strikers have scored in our first 3 pre season games! Good stuff.

I really don't think it matters that much. The game against Luton will have far more influence on the mood for the season

Excellent, vCash was a tad worried there for a mo

I don't think pre season results are that important tbh, it is mainly getting players used to each other again and improving fitness and match sharpness.

A good example, which everyone is raving about down here, is that Exeter City beat Fulham's first team last week!

In friendlys both sets of teams play without pressure and wont stretch themselves for that last ditch tackle or 50/50 chance, so don't worrry yet...! ;)

also good to see many players played the whole 90 mins today and most subs were made with around 20 mins to go

Indeed... three wins out of three, I'm not terribly worried at this stage... :icon_wink

Winning is a good habit but lets face it we are playing against the most trying of opposition...Stockport only just stayed in The Football league last season.

Don't be too disrespectful!

The team was inherited by Jim Gannon from Chris Turner.

Turner left us bottom of the league on New Years Day by 5 points, and we showed play-off form to stay up from New Years Day.

We gave you a match today, and if Dickinson would have stayed on the pitch it might have been a different story.
