Thats where I'm living :P

Just how you were saying we only just stayed in the football league. If you were an alien tonight you probably would have said we were in the same league for 80 minutes of the match.

But it was only a Friendly...I wouldn't read too much into it for either side.

I know its only a friendly, the comment I was making was to your

"Winning is a good habit but lets face it we are playing against the most trying of opposition...Stockport only just stayed in The Football league last season."

Sorry it wasn't really a dig honest,I just meant we need to step up our Pre Season and test ourselves against ateamof a higher level,we've only played 3 Division 2 sides.

AsStockport Jack said, two evenly matched teams for 80 mins - which is worrrying.

On the positive side, there were improved performances from Johnson (our best player for an hour) and Johannsen, and very good performances from Henderson (the busier keeper) and Porter (I kid you not - our best player for the last 30 mins). And we finished the stronger. Oh, and White-Boots did ok for once.

On the minus side: Low, Hughes and Tiatto were awful, the former in particular. Low played the full 90 and I'm not sure he found a yellow shirt all night, and fresh from the same level (where he made the PFA team of the season) as the opposition he managed to look out of his depth throughout. He probably offers the team just this: he's not Sylla, and he's not Maybury.

As I've said before, I really fear for us in midfield this year - I don't think we have a single better-then-average player in any of the four positions. I'm hoing that Weso and Porter prove me wrong, but that may have to wait another year.

Here's my player ratings:

Henderson 7

Hughes 5
Johnson 7
Tiatto 5
O'Grady 6

Personelly i throught O'Grady was out best player in the first half.
I don't think we got control of the midfield atall until Williams came on, so i'm not sure how Johnson was our best player.
Williams played the ball around really well when he came on, finding Porter numerous times on the left wing.

McAuley was at fault for the first goal. I thought he could have just twatted the ball away, but well and truely fecked up when trying to make a headed back pass.

Henderson did well. He didn't put a foot wrong all night, made some good (although standard) saves, and even caught a few crosses. His kicking was a lot better then previous as well.

I share you're concern about midfield. I didn't see anything in Low, which makes me believe he'll be anything but a part player. But i guess it was only a friendly - which like it or not some players just don't turn up for.
Hughes was rubbish, his passing was terriable at times. I'm struggling to think of anything that he actaully did- apart from a shot in the first half. (Someone correct me)
I've been one of the few who doesn't mind Twatoo, but he didn't do enough when he got the ball. Granted through, he did actaully stay out on the left wing! instead of trying to play in everyone elses positions!

Johnson looked ok. He played some nice balls. But i get the feeling that if we play a team who close down our midfeild, then there not going to be good enough to make space for theseselves and get involved.

For me, Hammond didn't do a great deal. O'grady held the ball well. But tried to do to much at times. I think he could play an important role this season.
I didn't think Fratt did much other than score. Hume looked like he was really trying to get involved, but didn't do that much.

In all; rubbish first half, better second. started playing well when Willaims, Porter, Hume, and Fratt came on.

That's what people always said about Sir Gary. And what we needed for most of last season was a goalscorer. So Fryatt not backtracking into midfield for 90 minutes doesn't worry me at all.

Damn right, the same could be said of Owen. If he does nothing but score 20 goals next season then that'll do me!

It was more a observation than a criticism. ;)

My views of last night.

First half was rubbish. McCauley made a dreadful error for the goal.

Louw reminded me of Scowie!! Tiatto made me laugh with his constant swearing!!!

Second half was much better, Williams was excellent although he had a lot of time on the ball.

Porter was the bright spark, he was excellent.

Fryatt did ok and made the goal for himself.

hendo made some cracking saves.

Overall - Job done

My views from the game although belated :)

Really poor showing from Low, did nothing all night. Disappointing considering he did well at Boston.

Atrocious display from McAulay again, I'm really not warming to him at all. His distribution is very poor and if he continues to defend like he is doing he wil get found out very quickly against better opposition.

Williams was excellent when he came on and is certainly starting to look favourite for the central midfield place next to Johnson. Superb free kick.

Porter looked really good when he came on and made some really telling runs down the left. Made Tiatto look like a monkey.

Hughes was disappointing again (his ankle was still heavily strapped)

O'Grady was excellent and probably man of the match, held the ball up well, looked strong and alert. Elvis also played well again. On pre season showing so far these 2 should start at Luton.

Douglas? Was he injured? He was doing the hod carrying before the game, shipping the crates of drinkes from the bus to the dressing room but I didn notice he had a bottle of pills tooked in his socks.

Thanks for that PK and DF. ;)

Kisnorbo is suspended for first two matches

No. Kisnorbo was sent off for 'serious foul play' during the game at Coventry and was suspended, automatically and immediately, for three games. He missed the Plymouth and Southampton games because of this and now has only one more game to serve.

He will be available for the match against Burnley.
