The number of morons who complained at the team selection before the game was astounding. Yes, it turned out to be poor but after hearing the reasons for it then it was fair enough. There aren't enough people who are patient enough to wait and see if something works or to hear the explanation behind team selections.

It is quite possible that after playing midweek, he wanted to change it a little bearing in mind that we also have Wolves on Tuesday night. He more than likely expected that the three forwards could create somethiing or at least put in 100% effort. We didn't get that and he has learned something about those players. As he has said, it is a large squad that he believes contains a lot of sub-standard players or players which haven't really improved the squad that much from last season. And I would have to agree.

Allen has brought in a lot of dross and it's going to take time for Megson to sort it out. He can't really sell or bring in anyone at the minute so it's going to take time. He can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear. People really need to step back a little and realise that the expectation of promotion will not be happening THIS season. We just need to have a comfortable season in mid-table and then push on next season.

I think that probably has something to do with Milan raising the bar in his aim to try for something this season rather than in three seasons.

Expectation levels, rightly or wrongly, have been raised.

And, I believe that we'll see a team that he wants to play rather being forced to play. It probably won't contain everyone he wants as Wesolowski will be out of the game but it'll be more of the team he wants.

We missed a trick in letting Sheff Wed get Graham Kavanagh on a season long loan from Sunderland. Him alongside Clemence would boss most midfields and he is a leader something we a missing on the pitch. Out of todays team who was the leader out there? Clemence the only one?

100% agreed.

I can't see the logic there. I am not a moron (though I had to sit next to lots of Blue Mongie's). We beat ASTON VILLA 1-0, I am of the opinion you have a winning team, you keep a winning team. You have confidence players on the pitch and those on the bench now have to step up their game. Bypassing that can shoot a whole team's confidence. When you are successful, you don't feel tired. Ask TBFC after their sole victory this season. :icon_lol:

I felt sorry for Campbell who looked up for it but was let down by a midfield whose sole aim is to battle.

A woeful first half, a 15 minute spell of good which got the blue mongie's thinking it was a decent point and then 30 minutes of controlling the tempo but using it nil effect.

Draconian tactics.

Mattock looks back to his last season form. Stearman despite IMO being at fault for the goal improved. Back 3 okish. Fulop very comfortable. Chambers not a centre midfielder. Clemence ok but his 'balls' are woeful.

Disappointed with another negative substitution, at 1-1 we should have been looking to go on and win the game - so why bring Kishishev on for Cort, when Newton was on the bench?

It was a joke sub IMO esp. when Kish kept coming inside - you could tell he wasn't a winger. Mattock always had bags of space on the left winger and with Newton alongside him with 20 to go they could have caused some damage.

So if I ask for a plane to be built and car is delivered instead, I am going to speculate about its airworthiness. :102: So was it with that team selection.

Moreover if all the players are "much of a muchness" then why does he persist with the same non-functioning, inconsistent group. :102:

i know what your saying but if he can get thet group playing as well as the other's do .

we would be all the better for it and the only way to do this is too get 90 min's under there belts ,

yes i know they are not 100% yet ,even looked very poor at times , but its the only way to get them back into the run of things .

Look at fryatt he was crap for months last year ,now he's back to his old self im pleased to say :038:

i look forward to carl cort being back to his old self, a good hamstring injury should provide us with someone decent up front in his place :)

Positives for me yesterday where that Fryatt and Stearman both look like getting back to their best.

i was a little surprised when he didnt keep the same team from villa.but in the back of my mind i thought hume and fryatt would be shattered after weds.so maybe i wasnt that surprised.
meg dog is right,he has to give these squad players a chance.the problem is cort (get rid,ive seen enough)cambell (still sulking) and de vries are not stepping up to the plate and making it hard for selection.meg dog said as much in his post match interview.
we will need to bring in a couple of strikers on loan sooner or later.

strikers on loan sooner or later.

a midfield wouldn't go a miss either, clemence cannot play as a midfield on his own. if megson wanted to give a more honest interview he should have said "i've been here five minutes, havent a clue who my best/decent players are and i have made a few mistakes as a result" a bit of honesty would be nice

I see Paul Ince is doing well with MK Dons....I wonder what might have beeen there you know...

It's his tactics and team choice that were very poor on Sat. There was no creativity in the entire team. Both Cort and MDV aren't very mobile so how he expected them to create things is mystery. If you are playing two big striker you need to get down the wing and give them some service. We have a big squad he could and should have used some to the guy's playing in the reserve team. 2 points at home along with a performance that won't make people want to come back to the Walkers. As a team they have gone backwards.

is rob kelly still at preston? i'm sure he could do a job, anyone else think that would be a step forward?

I will add this though - MDV was rubbish, is rubbish, and I see no evidence to suggest he won't always be rubbish.

Boring as fcuk, utterly boring shite game to watch.

Carl Cort was a million times worse than MDV. Looked like he didnt give a shit all game. He is dreadful. Granted MDV isnt much better.

Agreed, but it's the first time I've seen Cort play and I'm not prepared to judge him just yet on that one game. But you're right, he was crap though.

As far as MDV is concerned, he aint even a footballer IMO.
