yeh, its not his fault they showed zero ambition. he was right when he said thier whole strategy was based on relegation. i'm not a Mick McCarthy fan but it's a stupid thing to do, seeing as they are a cert for relegation.

Strange decision by Sunderland imo. If they stuck with him this long then i'd a thought they would have gave him the start of next season.

Absolute madness to sack the man, last season he won the division that the team are heading back to, surely he deserved a fair crack at getting them back up next season, granted if after a dozen or so games they had started poorly then fair do's.

IMO it is a kop out on the chairmans part, it is widely known that McCarthy was given a very limited budget and the chairman is now deflecting potential criticism away from himself towards McCarthy, who despite their very poor season is building a decent young side who would have an excellent chance to bounce straight back up.

I agree that he would be a good option for us, should Kelly not want the job or if the board decided he maybe wasnt the right man long term.
