Is it possible to restrict the Blue Mongies and Not Rights from doing this?

It makes makes viewing the forum a more unpleasant experience than it normally is.

I've changed it so anyone registering in future will be able to have a maximum of 15 characters in their user name. It was set to 25 characters.

Not easily.

If you find it really annoying you could just add them to your ignore list.

It is intensely irritating though and not improved by the fact that none of these unnecessarily long usernames have even a glimmer of wit about them.

Someone went to the effort of starting a thread about it, so it must have irked them sufficiently to spend the time doing so?

Personally, it's not something I'd kick up a fuss about.

TBH, it wasn't that much of an effort. Just a few keystrokes here and there.

If I can find the part of the program that does it I'm sure it would be easy. But it will revert back to the original version every time I update the forum software, so I'm reluctant to change the program itself.

There may be a way of doing it within the templating system, but as I said before, it's not at the top of my list of things to do.
