Leicester City 4-0 Peterborough United
20 December 2008

Never mind the Christmas No. 1, the real result that the world is waiting for is who is going to be celebrating a player-ratings.com man of the match award over their Christmas turkey? It was a close run thing but Aleksandar Tunchev just pipped Steve Howard to collect his seventh man of the match award of the season.

Tunchev was on top form to keep the high profile strike partnership of Aaron McLean and Craig Mackail-Smith at bay in the 4-0 victory and there can be no doubt that Steve Howard would have sacrificed the man of the match award for a goal before the game. His fine strike was his first goal since October and ensured that he was a very close runner-up. Third place went to captain Matt Oakley who just stole ahead of 23-goal striker Fryatt and on loan midfielder Mark Davies.

There were no poor performances from those who started and this reflects in a scoreline which helped Leicester move four points clear at the top of League One.

Brilliant turnout again, nearly half way through the season and the site is growing ever popular. Voting will be open shortly after the Leeds game on boxing day so please remember to log on and vote if you go to Elland Road.

Its really true that class will show out as that was my first view of Tunch since a pre season friendly at Palace. He looked absolutely brilliant and so cool under pressure. Also i was amazed how easily he won every header.

Top buy of the season this lad.

You're doing a great job Sheffield_fox, I always enjoy reading these. Can't vote over here but I will definitely vote when I'm over for the Leyton Orient game.

Can I just ask what my average was please Sheff?

I'm quite glad I'm not in the harshest voters this time, I might've started to get a complex!

I can't help feeling that 'the left side' and 'the right side' lost players a few points in Hazzman's book.

I think when Tunchev first came to the club most of us were thinking its another "Milan-buy" so he could be another Keabi, but he has really shown his true class. I have never seen him play for Leicester but i will see him at the Hereford game and the Palace Fa cup game, but the way he is going on with his business Steve Walsh, Gerry Taggat, Matt Elliot all come to mind, he is going in the right Direction, 7 Man of the match awards so far, brillliant!!!!!

I wasn't, purely because I wouldn't know how to define a "Milan-buy" or indeed what one even is.

Please can you enlighten me?

More important................ why isn't Melton Fox the most generous voter?

And is he?..... If not, now prove to me he wasn't a Milan-buy.

Tunchev said of City's approach for him: "They had been watching me at national-team level. The chief scout, Steve Walsh, had been watching me before and suddenly it all happened over two days after they made the inquiry."

...........and?

It may be well above my understanding but I trhink by him saying they and Walsh had been watching him, kind of gives the impression it wasn't a MM buy
