Great batting today 444 for 5 at tea. Think this is the 4th game out of 6 that we have been terrible first innings but really good 2nd. Certainly the second time we have reached 400 in second inns

A really enjoyable days play because at last we were on top for a whole day.

Ackerman gave a master class.

There was absolutely no point in declaring. We had not the remotest chance of winning so the right thing to do was to bat all day and remind Surrey that we are not always a pushover.
