Please go, your country needs you.

From the mockery:

Sylla has to weigh up his options for national calls
City winger Momo Sylla faces a tough decision next month, the usual classic of club versus country.

He is sure to be selected in the Guinea squad for the African Nations Cup which starts in Egypt on January 20, but Sylla has not yet said whether he will go or stay to play with City in a vital part of the season.

Sylla pulled out of a previous African Nations squad, under a former national team manager, and faced a lot of pressure following that decision. But that is a risk he might take again.

Sylla said: "I thought the decision before, which put a lot of pressure on me and my family, might have meant that I did not get another chance. But I have been told I will be selected for this year's competition.

"It is a big honour to play in the competition and I do not know if I will get another chance but I have still not decided what to do. It depends on how Leicester are doing.

"I do not want to go and let everyone here down if the team are not doing well.

"I enjoy playing for Leicester and want to do well for them, but I want my country to do well in Egypt too."

Sylla's skills have been a hallmark of a lot of City's good play in recent weeks and, with boss Craig Levein believing his midfield four are settling into a strong combination, the loss of the former Celtic wideman would mean a loss of continuity.

And until the picture becomes clearer, City can only wait and hope.

'I do not want to go and let everyone down here' :102: :102: Yeah Momo like its bothered you in the past 5 months, just go you won't be missed.

He certainly played better at Stoke than he did earlier in the season - and I think on the night he had his name chanted by the Leicester fans more often than any of our other players. People will blame him for their winning goal, but until then he'd had a decent game. Maybe that didn't come across on TV.

It didn't.

He has improved in recent weeks. no doubting that, but it's his attitude and commitment that concern me, he is talented and on his day he can be an exciting player, the problem being that you need a lot more than that to be successful, IMO he lacks guts.

The only reason he wont go to the African Cup of Nations will be because he fears losing his place especially now we have Griffiths on trial, it wont be because he is worried about the position the club is in.

Seeing as its panto season...

Oooooohhhh yes it did!

Momo has got ability. Some people might prefer to see players hairing round the park give 100% than a more skillful player not running his knackers off for 90 mins. Not me, I think Momo has been OK this season. I go to half the home games and a few away. Maybe I have missed all his awful performances and only seen his better ones but I think he gets too much stick.

i agree pf , think on his day is good but only with the ball at his feet when he loses it he just gives up,be better coming off the bench maybe!

According to my Celtic supporting mate, he was fantastic for two seasons up there, but never liked having to defend or track back (as we have seen on a number of occasions this season)... also liked to try and tell the manager what position he wanted to play, which probably answers why O'Neill got rid :icon_roll

It also states the following

The last time Sylla pulled out of the Guinea squad it was because he wanted to stake his claim at Celtic in the light of stiff competition. That is not quite the case here as, in form and fully fit, his name is one of the first on the team sheet.:icon_eek: :102: :102: :icon_eek:

in form? :icon_eek:

I'm not doubting his ability, skill but we have can't afford the luxury of a Player like Syllla....IMO.Bone idol at Celtic, bone idol here.

The Celtic fans I know also said that not only did he tell MON where he wanted to play but when MON did play him there then Sylla would say 'No I'm much better playing elsewhere'.When He came here i thought I'd give him a chance before I pass comment,he's had 5 months...he's no good for us..IMO

Syla reminds me of Jordan Stewart when he played for us. Nobody can deny that on their day both are great players with loads of skill. However, when they are not on top of their game (majority of the time) they stroll about and look like they cant be arsed, which is one thing that will annoy any football fan!

CL got rid of Stewart hopefully he will get rid of Momo unless his performances become more consistent

Totally agree - he was brilliant against Sheff UTD I thought.

The difference between Sylla and Stewart is that Sylla can get past people. Ever since the Barcelona game when Puyol destroyed him, he never seemed to be able to take people on. Shame. Anyway I think Momo is a good asset for the side nothing more to say really.
