I have been complaining about this for a while so the answer to your questions are, obviously not as people still do it, yes as people still do read threads and it must do as it happens so often. :icon_roll

From my own point of view, opening a thread on a topic I am interested in to read the only new posts being about a spelling mistake in a previous post is a complete waste of my time and is rather frustrating.
