I've heard a rumour but I'm afraid I can't share it.

If it's a 'rumour' then surly you can share it! If you have hard facts you might be in your interest to keep shtum.

Go on, give us a clue......

I've heard that the slag on X-factor gets through to the next round.

I've heard a rumour and I can share it - for what it's worth, Stringer says he has not gone.

No resignation, no mutual consent, no nothing.

Little or no chance he will go immediately.

Given the way that these guys allegedly finessed the NP out and Sousa in scenario then they are going to be scouting round for a replacement that fits with their own ideas. They'd almost certainly do that through their contacts and it would probably take time.

They are also going to be concerned at the moment about the money all this is going to cost and so if Sousa can show any sign of improvement then they will want to stick with him.

In my opinion they will stick with Sousa until the situation becomes totally untenable and then they will come up with another probably unsuitable candidate. A defeat at Norwich would up the pressure but I guess they will be relying on a home win against Scunthorpe.

I will back sousa has gone story, I also heard the same thing.

I heard nothing about MON been new manager tho, or who the replacement might be.

Can I have David Ginola as the next manager please?

He can't be any worse than Puppet Sousa* and me and Cate will still have summat to look at when we aren't watching Oakley on the pitch!

*Well, he could be worse but at least we can understand what he is saying!!

You are definitely having a laugh. Do you earnestly think for one minute the new owners will hesitate to drop Sousa regardless of cost? You are in cuckoo land.....

My understanding when Powell arrived here was that he was wanting to get into management. Perhaps people with better memories can confirm this or be more specific.

As to whether he would be a good manager I will admit my reasons are vague.
The fact that he was a chairman of the PFA suggests he is held in great respect by people within football.
He has a remarkable knowledge of the English game both in the Prem and the Championship.
He knows what worked under Pearson with this team and what has gone wrong under Sousa. He will also know if Sousa has done things which need keeping.

There are two factors that are even more important than the above for me. He knows the team and my guess is that the team would want him. One of the many problems in Year Of Four Managers is that it took Ian Holloway too long to work out his best team.
The second factor is that Powell seems to me a man of good judgement. This to me is the most important thing in leadership at any level - what proportion of your decisions do you get right.

You post so much sense sometimes it's unfair.
I like Powell- and I can't see why he wouldn't work.
Didn't Chelsea have a player manager once? Vielli? Something like that. i know Powell doesn't play any more.... but he's been on the field with most of our current squad, no?

Many would say that the situation is already untenable. I will repeat what should be obvious - if we are not to go down, something has got to change - and the easiest something to change is the manager. A win against Scunthorpe will make little difference to our position unless it is accompanied by at least a point at Norwich.
