Yet another example to add to many that reinforce that this religion is indeed very violent and unpredictable

No wonder nobody knows how to treat this religion when the people who practice it do not know themselves, it is open to such interpretation it is dangerous.
The above could easily be written about several religions. Take, for example, Christianity. The fundamentalist right-wing Christian George W. Bush is proving the above statement to be true of that religion as well.

Ban it all. Worse than cancer IMO.

:bang:

If I were a muslim you'd be either dead or receiving some kind of threat by now, or at the very least this forum would be shut down or sued for defamation. I'm very tolerant. Unlike others on here.

How tolerant of you. :018:

Not all Christians are intolerant.

Seriously though Jeff, do you mean to tell me that a teacher who allows her class to name a teddy bear Mohammad should be jailed (sorry, gaoled) ??? I'll bet there's no law that covers the naming of teddy bears in Sudan. Although maybe it's more about disrespecting their spiritual leader. By the way do you ever sleep? :icon_conf

If you're in a country where the whole culture and way of life is dominated by religion, you should be aware of the pitfalls.

Obviously in terms of the culture I'm used to, it seems ridiculous to jail someone for such an offence. In fact I try to be offensive to religion as often as I can. But to the people in Sudan it probably seems quite normal and they don't know what the fuss is about.

The thing about it being a teddy bear is a bit of a red herring. Kids in that country don't have teddy bears, and bears are seen as dangerous animals, not cuddly toys. So as far as they're concerned a dangerous animal was given the name Mohammed.

Only a small minority of muslims in this country are that sensitive and extreme in their views. Maybe it's different where you are.

You don't say it, but some of the things you say give that impression.

Anyway I'm going to bed now, it's 6 hours past my bedtime.

I don't hate anyone. I just hate some of the things they say and do. It's called morality. Something we could all do with more of in these troubled times. Goodnight Jeff, don't let the teddybears bite ... :icon_conf

Like anywhere, you have good and bad in every race, religion, and country. The trouble is it's getting harder to know your enemy these days. :icon_conf

I'm still here.

Who do you mean by 'they'?

Is it everyone who doesn't share your view of morality?

"They" would include murderers, rapists, pedophiles, and everyone who does what most people (no matter what their beliefs) consider to be evil.

You don't believe in the spiritual kingdom so I'll never convince you otherwise, but trust me when I say we all have enemies.

I really don't care if you think I'm a fruitcake either. I've been called worse. But until you've experienced what I have you'll never believe me. Funny though, cos you seem very quick to defend muslims and their beliefs.

Nothing personal Foxin_Oz, I've just pretty much lost patience with all religions. I am at least consistent as I hate them all equally (although Buddhism may be more equal than other religions).

Actually, I think I might start my own religion - Foxism! Who else is going to join the Foxist revolution?

Come with me.... I have cake..... :045: :icon_razz :110:

Hey Desert Fox, I don't take offence at what you've said. I used to be the same. Then I had some really strange things happen in my life. I respect your right to believe what you want. All I ask is the same right. Cake huh? :icon_bigg

Forget everything you have learned Foxin, and just remember this one thing:

Cake.

This way, my friend......

Not fruitcake I hope. I don't want to be accused of cannibalism. :icon_conf

Hmmm ... I suspect Jeff's sleeping on his reply. Oh well, no doubt I'll get a response soon enough ... :tumbleweed:

If you're in a foreign country you should obey their laws, however stupid you might think they are.
If a visitor to this country broke a law they weren't aware of would you say it's OK because they didn't know about it?

Kindly explain how the thousands of unpaid parking tickets by foreign embassy staff fits into your statement!

Yes I know technically they have diplomatic immunity, but our staff abroad do adhere to things like that.

Anyway, with regard to the subject under discussion in this thread, it says something about certain Sudanese when even many other Sudanese admit that someone is making a mountain out of a molehill for nefarious reasons.
