I'd just like to take a moment to thank Milan Little did most of you suspect we would be in the complete shit that we are now ?

I think there was actually quite a few people on here who were well aware of the shit that might follow.

Allen - Allegedly proved to be a complete arsehole behind the scenes and alienated the whole setup, Milan recognised his mistake and got rid. Good call

Megson - Left us, would have irrespective of a signed contract or not, we still got compo. Not Milans fault

Warnock - Would have been jeered and booed by exactly the same people who reacted that way to Megson

Holloway - Juries out, but I'm glad you don't think he needs any more games to prove himself before you judge him, after all it's not like you had a go at Milan for doing that exact same thing with Allen.

Great work beights - saved me the bother of typing all that.:038:

There were plenty

And plenty who said that it's a feckin' massive gamble, but what choice have we got - better to have lived and loved than never to have loved at all

And the rest were Blue Mongies who apparently think we are a premiership side, or something

Anyway - Boooooooooooooooooooooooooo.........

I do not think anyone was under any illusions that Milan's track record of picking managers and how long it took to get Portsmouth into the Prem always meant it was going to be a rollercoaster ride, up or down!

It at least meant there was hope rather than the inevitable slide into oblivion from the previous board who either could not or would not obtain investment to at least have a go at halting the decline and pushing for the Prem.

Most of the statements at the time were around the 'strap yourself in, it is going to be one hell of a ride' and 'at least it won't be boring' and to that end those assumptions have been accurate.

The main thing that makes me laugh is that for all MM's money, the best bet this club has got to move forward with any degree of stability is with the academy graduates that have come through and those likely to come through over the next 12-18 months.

Thats was the opinion of CL (the grand 3 year plan), RK, the old board and now its the opinion of IH and MM.

The only difference is that we can afford to spend more money on crap players like those got during MM's European bargain hunt of 2007 and then inflated fees & wages like those of Campbell, Cort and even to an extent Clemence.

Of course, not that MM has actually spent any of his hard earned cash, its all been underwritten by the saviour and increased our loans.

But of course, I'm forgetting, we'd have been relegated and in administration if our lord and saviour hadn't come in to rescue us. Now is that Bill Anderson for convincing all the BM's or Milan for paying him?

It would certainly be ironic, given the flack taken by the old regime and the unconditional support given by many to MM, if we do go on to be successfull on the back of the kids.

I suspect that it would also be an absolute feckin' miracle

I'm not convinced it was Allens fault. The evidence such as it is is ambiguous. It could equally be that MA2 was standing up to MM and refusing to be told who to buy and who to pick. There seemed to be a buzz and excitment around when MA2 was in charge and he seemed at least to be going in the right direction. The JFH debacle was the case in point. Clearly MM wanted to buy him and MA2 didn't think he'd fit in with his plans. Whose right?
It's like your mum picking your girlfriends for you and who'd want that!!

Megson had the reputation of a bore and that's why he wasn't a popular choice. Ollie has a much more fiesty reputation but so far he hasn't delivered. I hope that he can prove himself in the January transfers and get rid of the dross that MM bought in (allegedly)

I agree that there were a few who cautioned of the potential rocky road ahead but the majority seemed of the opinion that MM was some sort of football messiah who would replicate the last few years at Pompey here.

But it is not about getting rid of the dross, IH does not stand a chance of off loading any of them, loans at best if we are lucky.
The way to prove himself is to find the right few players in the key areas we are lacking and start getting some results.

No, but building a team around the best young players over the next 12 months is more of a cert than anything else.

And do you seriously think that our way out if this hideopus mess is dependant upon the likes of Wesolowski, Stearman, Porter, Sheehan, Mattock and Odhiambo

Because I think that there lies complete and utter disaster
