Speculation The hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded autumn/winter 2019/20 rumours thread.

An upgrade on who, exactly ?

Nowhere near as good as anyone currently in the first team matchday squad.

Not even remotely close to any of them
we need more depth, especially with European football next season, he apparently hasn't been injured all that much recently just can't get into their team now, plays in CM or in the wide attacking areas, dependant on wages could be a very good signing

A player, with Champion's League experience, on a free. He probably won't play 50+ games in the season, but at times he could be invaluable. If he is open to the move, and the wages are not outlandish, then I'd say a good signing.

This is his injury record. It's awful.

He has played a total of 1,038 minutes of Premier League football since the start of the 17/18 season. That's about 11.5 full matches out of his last 102.

You don't think Lallana is better than Gray?

I don't think Lallana would be the worst signing; I said a while ago we need a bit more experience in our team and think he would bring that and give us a decent option.

My concern would be his injury record and his role in the squad; I think he's a decent rotation option and gives us something different. I don't think he'd be good enough to be guaranteed a first team place or even that I'd expect him to be a regular starter.

If he's happy to come as a squad rotation player then I'd have him on a free. But if wants £100k a week and is being told he's going to start most weeks, that would concern me.
