I’ve heard zero confirmation that he wants to go at all. No one ‘ITK’ has said so, the fact that he appears to be silent is an indication to me that he doesn’t wish to burn his bridges either way.

I don't get that at all. Pay what he's worth or **** off. Surely HM can see the correctness in that? It is irrelevant how much we paid for him. It's only about a) how much he's worth and b) how much someone is willing to pay. Nothing else matters.
