Speculation The hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded summer 2021 rumours thread

That is the only game I can actually look back at and say it specifically cost us the CL, purely because it was down to off the field shit.
You put a strong case, I'd not really considered it like that. There certainly is a case for saying that there was a failure to recognise what was at stake, 'irresponsible' seems like too weak a word.

I'll be first to eat my words if he starts performing well but as yet he's been massively inconsistent, even before covid. If we have to sell one first team player I hope that it's him.
Absolute madness. He has been carrying an injury that opposition players target every time he plays. I have no doubt he is our most fouled player this season. If you watched more closely you would see how he gets clattered on his hip and thigh consistently.

He has quality and when he is fully fit and injury free he will continue to be a great asset for us. No one is more disappointed with his poor recent form than Madders himself. He will be bitterly upset to have missed being in contention for a place at the European Championships.

He was also playing extremely well before his injury, with multiple goals and assists, up to the point where he had to miss a few matches. He’s clearly not been the same player since he came back.

Do I think he's useless? No. Do I think we could improve on his position if he was the player we sold and we got £51 million for him? Absofuckinglutely

It could also be the way he plays, trying to roll players.

He can be very good on the ball, in close possession. Manages to wriggle away, find room. Something Perez, for instance, tries but doesn't sucede at. By way of comparison, watch Youri - he rarely lets himself be caught in possession, moves the ball away, seems always aware of where the passes are.

He’s an unlikeable twat, I think most of us can agree on that.

But when he’s fit he makes our team so much better. Yes he’s been absolute dog bob since his return from injury, similar to Ricardo, but it’s clear he’s not quite fit yet.

Next season he’ll be flying again and we’ll all be back to wanking ourselves silly about how great he is.

I find it annoying too that the pundits really play up to him. Okay he speaks well in interviews and he did the covid handshake celebration, but then he's broken lockdown and taken on a gig promoting a company exploiting workers - not just anywhere, but in Leicester.

Not as smart as he makes out.

''Shoot for the stars'' is a good expression I believe. As we all (at best) doubted that our owners could get us to the Premier League and cement us there (6 seasons now and counting), no-one (bookies and pundits included) could have predicted our trajectory in this period.

There is nothing to stop our trajectory continuing in it's current positive manner (bar £££, agreed - perhaps the single biggest factor).

Who is to say that in 10 years time football fans worldwide won't see us as as big as some of Europe's best, with a stadium holding 60,000 plus, along with a global fanbase and companies begging t invest in our brand?

He's a Twat, he's made that very clear.

This time last year, it was Mount, Foden, Maddison and Grealish - who is the best?

Now, Mount, Foden and Grealish are miles ahead of Maddison in perception, value and England status.

On stats alone though, he does stack up okay against them. Their respective minutes played in the PL this season, Goals and Assists are:

Foden - 1,606 (9G & 5A) = one goal involvement every 115 mins
Grealish - 2,187 (6G & 10A) = one goal involvement every 137 mins
Maddison - 2,123 (8G & 5A) = one goal involvement every 163 mins
Mount - 2,891 (6G & 5A) = one goal involvement every 263 mins

Maddison's stats for 20/21 are comfortably his best for City. However, he has been playing progressively fewer minutes each season with his recurring hip problem. He played 62% of this season, down on 77% in 19/20 and 84% in 18/19.

20/21 - 2,123 mins (13 G+A) = one goal involvement every 163 mins
19/20 - 2.632 mins (9 G+A) = one goal involvement every 292 mins
18/19 - 2.877 mins (14 G+A) = one goal involvement every 206 mins

If Maddison had played the whole season, you'd expect him to have something like 14 goals and 7 assists which would have shot him forward.

So Man city phone Tilemans agent and say we want to pay your client £300k per week to sign for us.
Tilemans then tells his agent no I'm staying at Leicester because they have made me captain.

Tilemans would be off without a 2nd thought and if anyone on here thinks otherwise you are delusional
He does actually have a contract with us. Ultimately no one goes unless their contract expires or we give permission.

He's got no respect for the club, his teammates or the fans, that's enough for me.
He has made a mistake. The difference between his and ours are that his play out in public. He has to make amends now. I think he will. We all **** up. Mistakes are why they put rubbers on pencils.

The way we played that day made it very clear that the actions of him and a few others had really effected the squad.

Losing games for footballing reasons is one thing, losing them (badly) because of some Twattish behaviour off the pitch is entirely another.

It was a massive game
This is all fair. He has a lot to do to make it up. I think he will.

Maddison is a terrific player and we are much, much better when a fit, healthy Maddison in the team.

He's a prize **** of the highest order who will have to do some serious work on the pitch to regain my respect.

The two aren't incompatible. I can dislike the prick and see his value to us. If we get a massive offer and sell him then I won't be too upset but will he be easy to replace? Of course not.
