Speculation The hysterical and annoying, but traditional, totally unfounded summer 2023 rumours thread - it's started already!

Along with his team mate Bertrand
An experienced left back, on a free, who looked very good in ore-season, who then got Covid. Yep, truly one of the worst signing s we’ve ever made. Right up there with Matt Mills and Ade Akinbiyi.

Ade was shite, but you can't say he didn't try hard.

Actually he’s not a knob - he’s a top bloke for turning down their blood money to play in a despicable sportswashing circus
Possibly not the reason he turned it down though.

I'm not doubting what could have been an excellent signing, but he turned out to be shite.

Thank god, if there is one thing we need it’s more central midfielders.

Looks like Maresca is another one of those managers who cannot see what is in front of him. Great.
Don't worry, one for the u23s.

Another one who will just sit there and be released in 2/3 years time? We seem to specialise in them a bit.
Every club does it. The reality is this... A very small number of U23s will make it to the first team. The rest of them are just there to make up the numbers before they move on to elsewhere.

If we didn't add to the U23s, they'd soon be out of existence. It's really nothing to get cross about, it's a perfectly sensible and very cheap way of adding a young player who may or may not come good.

This clown has been walking about with a face like a smacked arse for two years now wanting away.

The moment will soon arrive where we realise that nobody will buy the ten or so players we're trying to shift and we'll have to accept loan deals to get them out.

I’m not cross, it’s just pointless. And I mean that for the whole system, not just at Leicester. I remember chatting to the head of recruitment at Arsenal, a good few years ago and he was talking about their U18s, which was full of 15 & 16 years old. Their view was that anyone who was older than that and still in the U18s wouldn’t be good enough. All of their 17 & 18 year olds were out on loan getting first team football already. The U23s seems (to me) an extension of that.

Loaning players like him out would be annoying. Would've thought we're better off negotiating and getting £5m and him off the books permanently now rather than a loan with an option to buy for £7-10m for example.

You're probably right though that a few of the bigger earners especially will be harder to shift and may need loans. But I also wouldn't be surprised to see some just go for heavily reduced fees or almost free just to get their wages off the books.

But that view has been proven wrong time and time and time again. It only takes one or two gems to make millions.
