I don't have a problem with signing 16/17 year olds that haven't made it elsewhere but our scouts think they have something.
We seem to go for the 20/21 year olds and that makes no sense to me at all.
We've signed loads of them over the last few years and they've all been shite.

I'm certainly not getting excited about anyone who signs for the academy, but you need a whole squad. Aa team of eleven and substitutes are going to be needed so a few that look unlikely to make it to make up the numbers but who will complement those for whom there are higher hopes could still be needed.

Can’t remember a single 20/21 year old that we have signed for the u21s/u23s who has ever been any good, or that we haven’t subsequently released on a free
Plenty who have come through from a much younger cohort (Chilwell, Barnes, Choudhury etc.) but none I can think of from an older age group
