The hysterically annoying and totally unfounded, but traditional, January 2025 rumours thread.

Apparently Buonanotte is staying also, which is great news, but makes it even weirder as to why Ruud has barely played him.

RvN has said that they expect Eduoard to stay. He is looking abroad for loans as they can't have any more from the PL.

If this is true then it’s ****ng insane - doesn’t even make the bench now. and has looked like a complete ****ing shithouse when he has got onto the pitch. Along with Bobby Shitpants, he is the most ludicrous example of the Cooper/Rudkin summer recruitment masterclass

I strongly suspect we’ve ****ed this deal up so can’t give him back

Taking it as genuine (it probably isn’t).

This is probably a contingency in the event we sell Soumare, which I could definitely see us doing.

Combination of incredibly lazy journalism and bullshit from Chelsea and/or his agent to get him a move to Italy

Our last summer’s recruitment was genuinely horrific, but this would take it to another level

Literally the only possible explanation.

Glasner was asked about this a few weeks ago and said he wasn't interested in Eduoard coming back to Palace. He was clear that he wasn't part of his plans so all they'd do is move him onto another loan.

If you were Palace and wanted to ensure that we remain a basket case of a club, leave him with us so we can't replace him with somebody competent. It's smart business on their part.

Positively Machiavellian in their dastardliness - and they'd further insist we would play him against them when we meet in a couple of weeks time.

Isn't there some kind of clause in a contract whereby if they act in an unprofessional manner they can be sent back? Clearly being really shit isn't classed as unprofessional. Can't we set him up somehow? Send on a holiday break to Thialand with James Pearson?

Give him a fire extinguisher as a belated Xmas present & **** him off to La Manga.

If there's actually any truth in it that's the sort of signing I want us making. Youngish, point to prove, taking a risk on an EFL player for a reasonable enough fee. & getting a proven player at the level if we go down.
Worth a go.
**** off with all the journeyman jobbers & lets get back to this.

Probably **** all to it as it sounds far too sensible for us.

We don't need to drop £50m. What happened to scouting an up and coming unknown defender?

That can step straight into a Premier League team and improve our defence dramatically to save our season?

That's a pretty tall order.

Up and coming unknown players are a lot harder to come by these days, because everyone has global scouting networks and the big clubs stockpile immense numbers of academy players. But even when they were a thing, they tend to need to time to settle, grow and be nurtured - something modern football and modern football fans don't tend to offer.

We haven’t really mentioned it in ages on this forum but does Brexit mean signing these “up and coming” talents is more difficult?

I am thinking perhaps of a certain M. Mahrez who was not playing for his country when we signed him but would have had french citizenship. Where would we have stood?

I know it won’t affect the vast majority of our transfers. But perhaps the smaller ones?

Edouard doesn’t have a clause in his deal to send him back. Requires all parties to find him another club - publically they won’t say that tho

If that’s true we have been properly done. We know this guy has found the PL difficult but we left ourselves with no option to keep him and limit our loan options. It’s just very silly.
