We could start today, and if you or I were in charge we would.
 
It's a shame we haven't had any deals lined up for Jan 1st. It's been dead clear what the gaps are (RB, CB probably a winger) and we should have been working to tie these deals up in advance, but have gone into today's game without anyone and will probably face Palace without new signings too.
 
It is bloody frustrating but it is frequently more nuanced than wanting someone and getting them. These things come down to the last day quite often because one move can depend on several others at a variety of different clubs. You also have the problem that we want quality. There are issues with that. Firstly, we don’t have money. We spent 80m on shit in the summer and can’t just spend big on transfer fees and yet further big salaries. Secondly, quality players generally want long careers at the highest level. We are not desirable. We are a big risk.

In short, we are ****ed and we have senior management to thank for it.
 
All the talk of a points deduction again is going to make signing anyone of quality impossible, same as it did in the summer. Even if we don't get the points deduction again it will have sabotaged our season

I would think the rancid stench of relegation would be more off putting, to be honest
 
Listened to the ‘When you’re smiling’ podcast. They spoke to Ruud about transfer activity. In a nutshell he wanted to see how we went in December before making a decision. He spent that month assessing with the club positions where we need reinforcements. He is ‘aligned’ with the club on this, and looking at various options as they arise. He said that he has a clearer view now of which positions we need help in. When pressed he wouldn’t give away specific positions because he doesn’t want to adversely affect our bargaining position. He said that it has to be the ‘right’ players.
 
Looks like Ipswich are about to sign Godfrey from Atalanta. No idea if this is a good or bad thing but we have been linked to him. Let's hope he's shit....

....unless we sign him after all the let's hope he's not shit.

The fact that Everton were happy to let him go and that he's hardly played for Atalanta might be an indication of his quality.
