The hysterically annoying and totally unfounded, but traditional, January 2025 rumours thread.

So you're agreeing with me and we can both understand why he'd jump at the opportunity ;)

Nah, Prem football maybe, professional football even, but the game itself... The game changes; has changed, will forever change. Just ask Aussie Ange. **** all we can do about it so position yourself accordingly, that's the choice you can make. Or whinge. Or join FoxesTrust. Whatever makes you feel good. The world's your lobster.
Don't worry, you'll get used to him.

I thought I was liable to the odd bit of hyperbole, where Leicester are either shit, and football is shit, and it ruins my life.....to, its the best thing ever, and I would sell my children to Top and let the squad have their way with my happily consentinting wife. But Payne74, if you bounce back from this, after a couple of wins in one week, and declare your undying love of the beautiful game and bleed blue blood again. You can take that mantle.

Football used to be about a break from the working week, not about politics or corruption. The premier league and it's clubs are now political and corrupt it's just blended into modern life. No matter what your regime is as long as you have enough money and the right connections your in.

Watching a home grown youth player coming through the ranks and playing 1st team football used to be a connection between the club and the fans, now it's just used to bypass PSR rules and bring in foreign players on long term contracts spreading money over numerous years.

I enjoy a game of football and I only support Leicester but I'm no longer emotionally attached.

Watch Leicester in the premier league by all means, the younger supporter knows no different to Saudi and American money running the game but for my generation it was never about money.

It was not just seeing a youngster from your area playing for your club, it was also that when they retired, they remained part of your community. I remember going into Jimmy Walsh's shop, Stringbean's pub and seeing Davie Gibson in M & S .

Definately. As you say, the game has changed. Reminiscing is what we all do from time to time, myself included. I enjoyed your earlier post and 'liked' it so I'm definately not taking the piss.

I'd guess there are older supporters around who thought 'football is ****ed' (only with era appropriate language) of our fondly remembered times. It that respect, it was ever thus. I just try to roll with it all, and find in it the game that I enjoy. Which is becoming increasingly difficult tbh, as far as televised football is concerned, and these days I find a different enjoyment watching local teams at the local rec.

Didn't get your pension from Graham Cross, though?

Never heard of him.

Look at stats - meh.

Look at YouTube clips - meh.

Percy was obviously correct when he said that we were looking for cheap full backs.

I guess it's punt time.
