Possibly. It's also possible that you have earned points but have also lost them on the same date. For example, if you do something right like bringing a small present or engaging your date in interesting conversation, you earn points. But if you then do something wrong (eg, dropping your drink on her new dress, sticking your finger in her soup, chucking it up the waitress in the toilet) you'll lose all the points you've earned.

Points do not mean prizes.

And even if you do earn points, and you don't do something wrong, make sure that you use them in time. They tend to have a very very very short expiration time.

An interesting comparison...

At this point last season, the sixth placed team (Brighton) had 52 points. This season Wigan occupy sixth and also have 52 points.

The third placed team last season (Hull) had 62 points. This seasons third placed team (Derby) currently have 61 points.

Very very similar and I thought quite interesting on a cold, dull Saturday morning.

Due to this weekends results, the points projections have changed. Based on the last ten games, 83 points will be enough to be promoted automatically. Based on points per game, 84 will be enough for automatic promotion.

Only three teams are averaging 2 points per game on their last ten games; Leicester, Burnley and Wigan. The race for the title is hinged on the Burnley v Leicester game. Good news for Leicester was Wigan going through yesterday. Our game is their final one before the Semi Final.

Mathetically the lowest we can finish is 18th (though this is largely rubbish).

However, this morning I did a little more maths.

Let's say 90 points is required for promotion:-

Leicester need 16 points from a max of pts (13 games) - therefore we can afford to drop 23 points (7 games).
Burnley need 21 points from a maximum of 36 points (12 games)- therefore they can afford to 'drop' 15 points (5 games).
Derby need 29 points from a maximum of 36 points (12 games) - therefore they can afford to drop 6 points (2 games).
QPR need 30 pts from a max of 39 pts (13 games) - therefore they can afford to drop 9 points (3 games).
Forest need 35 points from a max of 36 pts (12 games) - therefore they can afford to drop 1 point (1 game).
Wigan need 38 points from a max of 42 pts (14 games) - therefore they can afford to drop 4 points (2 games).

No it wouldn't. Stoke finished second that year with 79 points and we'd have had to finish above them to go up automatically. Stoke could have gone up with 77 though. We're not Stoke.
