That would ensure promotion. :icon_wink

how is that possible when there are another 6 games left and we are only ahead by 9 points from 3rd? if its still 9 points in 3 games time then we are promoted.

Steven is working to his own magic number :icon_wink

You are assuming that one or more sides are suddenly going to start performing better than they have done for the rest of the season. Possible but unlikely. :icon_bigg :icon_wink

On that basis one more win would put us beyond what Millwall are likely to achieve on their showing so far this season. :icon_bigg :icon_wink

And you are assuming they won't. It's unlikely that every team will perform exactly how they have this season so far. Some will do better, some will do worse.

Your magic number went up a couple of weeks ago, so it's obviously not a real target. It could go up again.

The only real target we should have is one that make promotion a mathematical certainty, not one based on silly predictions.

:icon_conf :icon_sad:

  • We are still moving towards the final average so variations are likely to be small
  • So could any "magic number" move wrt the form of a side
  • As the number for "mathematical certainty" changes with each game is it not the case that any prediction is "silly"? :102:

But this thread is not a 'prediction', it's about the actual number of points that would guarantee promotion. Unlike your system, this number will never go up, so if we say x more points will guarantee promotion, it's a fact. If you say x is the magic number, it may or may not be, it's just a prediction.
