I can't agree that Bullying is okay! or a good thing in any way.

My comments were about setting higher standards of achievement, not ridiculing (SP?)

I think people got wires crossed with your argument. I understand that you're point of the view is that there is no 'perfect' and that in a child should be continued to be 'pushed' to keep him improving. Not a comdenation (sp?) of the child themselves. This doesnt have to come through bullying or 'pussying footing'.

If something has happened to you personally then you are bound to argue/feel passionate about it.I don't think for one minute Macky was saying bullying was acceptable.

What's a not right?

exactly.

Some Friends kids (9 and 7 y/o) were in a tournament a month ago. they finished last but were still given medals and congratulated. i disagree with this. i don't think accepting that they were not good enough and need to try harder is going to harm them. rather i think it will do them good.

I Would not want anyone to say anything negative to them, but rather encourage them to do better

Correct, I was just being unemotional.

bullying: it's not right, but it's a side of human nature that kids will be exposed to as adults...

i suspect they weren't high acheivers... would be interested to hear any anecdotes
