FFS, Alex!!

I'm holding you responsible for the mental health of every member of TB!

From the BBC. :icon_wink

Reading want Watford manager Brendan Rogers to replace Steve Coppell, while also on their list of candidates are Tony Adams, Nigel Pearson and Lawrie Sanchez.
(Full story: The Sun)

Also on Reading's list are Adrian Boothroyd, Phil Parkinson and Gus Poyet. (The Times)

I did think that once the MOF had spoken yesterday that he was on his way:

Mockery

MON used these type of situations to screw more money out of the Board and show plenty of ambition. Maybe Nige will do the same with Mandy (and unlike our previous Board, Mandy has some dosh).

I think Pearson is likely to stay all told & certainly can't see him being interested in Reading.
It's Middlesborough I'd worry more about. If they go down they may well part company with Southgate. The attractions of this post are that they are a club with more resources than leicester (parachute payments), and offer a return to your (NP's) roots in the North East. I don't know how signficant this might be to him - some people remain very close and others don't.
But I also think that if the rumours are true of MM backing NP to get the likes of Cox and other good players with a decent budget he will be excited and motivated to take on the next campaign with Leicester. I can see no championship clubs attracting him other than Boro if they go down. Even then, he might not be tempted if he sees Leicester as going places (especially if the pull of his NE roots isn't too great).

I really hope he stays hes done a fantastic job this year !
Sometimes it hard being a leicester fan, all too often any success we have is short lived cos of things like this . Lets just hope he takes it as a compliment , says no thanks and it'll be ok ( untill the next manager gets sacked anyway )

What makes you think his roots are in the North East?

He only played there for four years and he's originally from the East Midlands.

Exactly, there seems to be this obsession with NP & Boro, he may have played for them, but every player who plays for a club doesn't then automatically fall in love with the club/area.

That could be quite traumatic for some, I mean could Benjy love 18 places at once and isn't there a law against it......

Maybe im being a bit arrogant and hopeful here, but why would anyone want to move between clubs in the same division when:

a: His current club is far bigger than the new club
b: He has been promised a large spending pool for the relative division at his current club
c: Hes already got a set up going and clear plans at his current club and so itd be silly to start from scratch again
d: His current club have forward momentum and a winning mentality, the new club has a losing mentality and a backward momentum

The fact NP is making summer signings before the season has even ended is a clear indication that he has plans and isnt going anywhere

I think it's terrific that it seems Nige is trying to get his business done early in the summer (I know he's only signed 2 players, but more appear imminent). It means he's been focusing on this next step for a while now and has a plan.

I am well impressed with the man.

Pearson will stay, why would he want to go to a smaller club?!

He is loved here already, I would be so suprised if he left us for someone like READING !

Even my mate, who is a Reading fan, said he can't see why Pearson would leave us to go to them because we're a much bigger club with a better foundation.

I can't see Pearson going to someone else in the Championship, particularly given that he's already signed 2 players, apparently close to another 2 with a decent amount of money to spend.
Think he'd also be wary of what's happened to people like Paul Ince, who have made the jump to the Prem too soon. His spells as caretaker at Newcastle didn't exactly go well.

Exactly. He did superbly last close seasion when he had no time to prepare for it. Now they have had the chance to plan and it seems to me that Steve Walsh job has largely been to prepare a list of players for Nigel and Milan to bring in.
I have been even more impressed by their work in emergencies. We lose Gilbert they bring in Edworthy; they lose Mattock they bring in Powell and Berner; they lose goalkeepers galore and there is always another being brought in.
Nigel has got a long way to go before he compares with Jimmy Bloomfield or Martin O'Neill but I have never had such an impression of sheer professionalism as I get now.

Spot on, great post.
