Its around this time that me and my mate start booking, but with a new little'un, don't look like I can afford to go And I just found out my mate is going to a camp this year, would have been awesome!

Where you going?

Soll with the lads, although we have yet to confirm the accommodation so it could end up elsewhere, flights and car sorted though. Hopefully this year I'll manage to avoid overnight stays in hospital!!

Les Gets with my 6 year old (by the time we go) daughter and a mate and his family.

I've got another mate who's working in Japan and has asked me to go and visit to go boarding out there, I'm very tempted.

Nice! And I would do Japan mate, that is top of my list!

Am very tempted to splash the cash and join my mate on the camp, not sure it would go down well with the Mrs tho, got more important things to spend the money on. Looks like its the dome only for me next year :(

Do you know how old a child has to be before they can learn to board?

No I don't sorry mate. I've had my daughter skiing since she was 2 so this season will be her 5th trip. In the early days I was just skiing with her in-between my legs and then gradually started letting her go, running ahead and catching her. When we went in March she was just turned 5 and the difference in her strength and co-ordination from the previous year was huge. I taught her myself (as the ski school she was in was too slow so I pulled her out of it) and she was flying down blue runs no problems all by herself. My youngest daughter is soon to be 3 but I've decided that I'll leave it another year for her as she'll benefit from being stronger.

I have to say, I learnt to ski as a kid before switching to boarding about 16 years ago and, although boarding was like starting again in some respects, I already had slope sense and knew how the mountain worked (if you know what I mean) so that really helped me. I'll probably get my kids to try boarding when they're older, but I think learning to ski will be a good base for them.

That's what I am looking to do, I cant ski myself so when he is old enough I will get him skiing lessons, and his mum too probably, so at least we can have holidays, then look at boarding lessons when he is older, stronger and has more co-ordination. I cant wait to get them both on the slopes, there really is nothing quite like it! :)

Couldn't agree more, give me a boarding holiday over a summer holiday any time. I got my wife into skiing before we had kids, so fortunately she can already ski.

If I could work out how to upload a video to here of my daughter skiing I would but I'm clearly incapable as I've tried several times and ti seems to stop part way through.

I can't see that sort of thing being popular over here.
