Rather niche, but I'm very sad to hear of the passing of MF Doom. Anyone whose interests cover hip hop and comicbooks should check him out

Even worse for me. If I'd been asked I'd have said Murray Walker was already dead. Probably about 10 years ago.
 


I read Murray Walker's autobiography a few years ago, that picture was in it. Wasn't a great fan of his as he infuriatingly got so many things wrong while commentating but that book changed my opinion of him. He knew he had a whole lot of faults but made up for it with his enthusiasm. He had a dream job and loved every minute of it.

It's worth considering that a lot of legendary broadcasters from earlier times wouldn't even pass the interview these days. John Peel & David Attenborough would be extremely unlikely to make the cut today. The end of the "just have a go" years probably cost us a few gems.
