Not my words, but a quote from Sports minister Hugh Robertson MP who today welcomed the Whittingdale Report.

A video of Whittingdale's presentation can be found here.

Clive Efford MP said:
There is a worrying trend as financial interests take hold that the game is becoming remote from the communities from which the clubs originated

Becoming?

£62 fecking pounds to attend a football match, ludicrous.

Very badly governed yes. However, the number of people involved and the intense press scrutiny stop it being the worst. For the worst governed look for the sports where there are so few involved that cronyism is easier and nobody outside the sport cares.

There was an example in Taekwondo where the world number one Aaron Cook preferred to organise his own training rather than do it at the official camp. The Taekwondo authorities then decided that the world number 56 was more likely to win a medal.

The decision was so remarkable that the Olympic Standards Panel asked the British Taekwondo bosses to take a second look. The second look involved a meeting in which 5 of the 6 who made the original judgement decided that judgement was right.Perhaps the British Taekwondo bosses will have not realised that when the Olympics are involved people will notice injustices or perhaps they just are not interested.

Incidentally isn't it delicious that the World Taekwondo Federation has the initial WTF.
