So Abramovich will sell Chelsea to Srivaddhanaprabha in gratitude for getting Kanté on a cheap? Yes, that makes a lot of sense.

Now that's not quite what I said is it? I think our owners sold a player to Chelsea that they didn't need to sell to Chelsea. Despite what the club said about clauses.

It's not a reach to say that it had something to do with the fact that our owners are very friendly down Chelsea way is it?

And see here: http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/20...tchday-magazines-on-the-chairman-3721200.aspx As soon as I'm onto them, they start offering diversionary sweeteners.

No, not at all. Or....

Anyone would think that they were trying to ingratiate themselves towards the powers that be at Chelsea in case they ever get a chance to take over there.

The buy out clause was apparently £22 million. Chelsea paid a lot more than that. If we hadn't sold him to Chelsea maybe he would have gone somewhere else for less money.

The clause was for a Champions League club. There were only three others in England and none of those teams wanted him.

So why are Chelsea saying that they 'got lucky' and Leicester 'let us have him'?

Kante was being regarded as a very special player this time last year. Okay, so he's done it again this year but has his value changed markedly since? How much would he sell for now? £50-60m? Our owners sold him to their friends on the cheap when they didn't have to. How come?

Was it just for English clubs in the Champions League?

If he made it clear he wanted to go, are we supposed to keep him against his will?

His value has increased because he's proved he can do it for more than one season, and at a big club.

Maybe Kante said he wanted to leave, met the Chelsea owner and decided that was the place for him. Chelsea offered the most money so off he goes.

I'm with BN here - and I'm convinced it has everything to do with Mendy's mysterious injuries

Plus why Martin Allen REALLY got sacked

NP was a complete novice compared to those mentioned.

:). I can imagine myself in his place with the mcarthur incident, except my grin would be more manaical, Joker-like.

Kante said he made his mind up after having spoken to Conte. He and his agent probably made it clear to all and sundry that he wanted to go to Chelsea. No point other clubs making bids if they already know he's off to Chelsea. Had we dug our heels in and refused to sell to Chelsea I think you can pretty much guarantee several champions league clubs would have snapped our hands off at £20m or whatever the release clause was. Chelsea also had that as a bargaining chip, so it was a matter of getting all we could from them. I seem to remember we even drafted in Sven to make a fake bid from his Chinese club to drive Chelsea's offer up. Personally I think we did pretty well getting 50% more than his release clause.

Interesting stat from the BBC, Vards has the third best shot:goal ratio after Kane and Llorente. Some of us will see that as evidence that he wasn't getting the service, others that he was too lazy to get into the right positions!

Although I do recall at some stage at our nadir he was being slated for missing chances regularly.

Only by the usual suspects.
