I remember everyone saying they'd give up when it went to a quid for twenty. Of course nobody did, we just rolled our own instead.

When i was at school Woodbines were the cheapest fags you could buy. 26p for 10

I used to have to buy singles from the corner shop near the school

My granny used to smoke about 40 Woodbines a day, up until she died in her early 90s. She used to smoke about half of one, then put it out with her fingers, before putting it behind her ear and then going back to finish it a bit later.

My Dad's brand. Plain not tipped. 40 a day til it killed him. When I was aged 9 & upwards my Friday evening mission was the newsagents for the fags & then the off door at the pub for 4 bottles of Mackeson.

Keeping the change was my pocket money for the week.

Then allowed to stay up late for the horror film on ITV.

Parenting like that gets you a visit from social services now probably !

& of course the newsagent & the pub landlord would be fined 1000s

Every Saturday, I used to be sent to get my dad five Grandee cigars and two dark chocolate Bounty's. He always got his Skol in himself.

Used the change to get 30p of pic n mix.

For the first time I now realise that seems quite posh.

Ooooh ! " Luxury Length " if i recall correctly. Probably the first superkings. Went through a phase of buying them probably because I thought i was getting more for my money. Bullshit since they were just more expensive.
