To be, or not to be? The Shakespeare thread.

I wouldn’t have blamed our owners for the appointment if last season ended after 35 games. But what annoys me is that we had those last three games which made it absolutely clear that he was out if his depth. Terrible appointment.

The owners take the blame in my eyes.

Blinded by a honeymoon period that was almost inevitable.

You think that was it? I don't. I think our owners and our players are too close and that's the issue.

The players like Shakespeare and that's enough for the owners. Some of the clique must be realising by now that they're sliding backwards with him. We just have to wait for the players to snide about Shakespeare behind his back and then he'll be gone.

I was thinking about this earlier, I reckon the media are all unaware of how ****ing awful we've been.

Or they know we'll pick up when the manager is sacked again.

I listen to most of the football podcasts over the course of the week and it's incredible how many journos and 'experts' file us away as being guarenteed a good season and how Shakespeare is getting us going again.

Just demonstrates how far under the radar CS is making us.

A kind of pointless team, not worth talking about.

A very poor call by the owners which at the very best has landed us with a wasted season.

Before the season started on the 'embarrassing predictor' thread I had us finishing 8th (on 56 points) - looks pretty optomistic now I must admit

If we stick with Shakespeare, our prospects really do seem bleak to me. We've already succumbed to 4 defeats to the 'big six' sides and I cannot really imagine any other outcomes from games against them given how soft we are increasingly becoming. So imagine a scenario of losing the 12 matches we play against them over the season. It's far from unrealistic as we're already a third of the way there.

If we're aspiring to 40 points (how times have changed!), then we need another 35 from the remaining 23 games. With a record of 2 wins from 25 away matches, there has to be some question about our prospects in many of the remaining away games. If we improve to win 2 of our remaining 15 away games and say pick up 4 more draws, that takes us to 15 points. Then we need 25 points from our remaining 12 home games - or something like 7 wins, 4 draws and 1 loss. I just can't see us achieving it.

We need there to be three exceptionally shit teams that are worse than us - and there are some candidates - or we're doomed.

Alternatively. we admit that appointing Shakespeare in the summer was a mistake and make a progressive change sooner rather than later.

I would vote for someone now, but is there anyone out there that would get the players respect, has some tactical nouse, and who still has some respect for the owners after the disgraceful way they sacked Ranieri?

I find the criticism of the owners harsh. Ranieri is our greatest ever manager but last season we were absolutely honking. We were dead men walking in his last few games. It is so sad it ended that way but the owners would have been negligent to stand by a watch.

My criticism is not that Ranieri had to go. It was the disrespectful nature of the way he was dismissed.

The likes of Holloway, Megson and Allan were granted more dignity in their dismissal, and they had done **** all for the club.

The guy had achieved what the world thought was impossible. He deserved better than to be sacked in an airport lounge on the way back from a match.

The owners hired shakey after the end of last season.

They can be blamed for that.

Agreed. But we've delayed relegation for a season, all worth it apparently.

Ranieri had to go and I think Shakespeare had to be given a chance after he rescued us from relegation and gave us one of the greatest nights in our history against Sevilla.

Easy to say it was a mistake in hindsight but I think if you'd done a poll at the end of the season you'd have found most Leicester fans supported giving Shakespeare a chance this season. I certainly did after what he did for us last year. Even now I want him to be given til Christmas and if we're not in relegation trouble i'd want to see what he could do with a full squad assuming Silva can't play until then.

No blame to the owners for me. I think they made what were the right decisions at the time. Getting the right manager isn't easy. Some fans idea of the type of manager we can attract is very unrealistic. Palace are about on our level and the best manager they could get was Roy Hodgson and yet people seriously think we could get Ancelotti. Fantasy land stuff.
