What do you want it for?

Where did you get that one from Webbo? It's much bettter definition than the the same shot shown in Foxes Alphabet.

First time I saw him was when he was "in exile" at Peterborough & they visited Filbo (cup match ?). He was totally anonymous, wandering round in midfield most of the time. Wondered what the fuss was all about & was really surprised when he was signed not too long after. But within a couple of weeks he had the crowd eating out of his hand. That couple of years were probably his best since he was a youngster - never quite the same player after he went to wolves.

From memory, I think the game may well have been a pre-season friendly. Dougan had completely lost his way in the game finishing up with Peterborough- but recovered his form with the City and regained his Northern Ireland place.

I would say that no Leicester player has had such cult status even tho' he was only with the club for a couple of seasons. He was signed at the same time as Jackie Sinclair (a right winger who played for Scotland). His crosses and Dougan's special arial strengths were really potent for a season or two.

On reflection, you are right about the friendly.

Happy days!

Just as a postscript....I'm not sure I entirely agree with you about Dougan not being successful when he moved to Wolves.

If you remember he formed a strike force partnership there with John Richards and partly because I lived near Wolverhampton at the time, I have a clear memory that they were a particularly effective duo.

If you remember there was a big outcry when Dougan was sold (for £40k?) and it seemed a bad move for us....tho' I guess that he may well have been keen to move back to the West Midlands with which he seemed to have strong links.

Derek Dougan is on Question Time, just started on BBC1. It seems that he's there because of his support for UKIP rather than to talk about his days at Filbert Street. :018:

Saw him. Typical UKIP soundbyte representative.

Another tarnished hero, another shattered dream.....

See what he did there?
