Particularly disappointed in the commitment to tackle, press and movement off the ball shown by Perez, Soumare and, surprisingly today, Mendy. Perhaps I’m expecting too much of present-day professional footballers but the minimum I’d expect in order to pick up a pay cheque is to hustle, and to go above and beyond particularly if playing time is limited. Not to mention that, when effort is in short supply, this only accentuates the disparity in skill level you’d expect to see when fielding a larger number of squad players. Can you elaborate?
Yep. And if we'd had our first choice 11 available for the majority of the season I think wed have been above them. They are considerably higher than us in the league
I didn't see anything of the game. How did Daka and Nacho do today? Nacho definitely plays better with a partner, and Daka has often looks like he needs that too. Might be hard to really judge without a creative midfielder in the side today, but how did it work with both up there?
Yep.From what I saw, they didn't really play as a partnership. It was a bit disappointing really because Iheanacho seemed to be deep lying closer to Perez than Daka. Daka was just shit again.
TBf I think the effort has been questionable from every player in the last couple of weeks with the exception of our European outings it's a case of nothing to play for syndrome.Only real point of note from today is the obvious lack of effort demonstrated by some for whom today was a rare opportunity to show what, if any, value they might have to the squad. Whenever called upon, effort should never be in question. If it is, game over.
Our success over the last several years has been down to a collective siege mentality looking to disrupt the league’s status quo. This is predicated upon spirit and desire. The remainder of our games do matter in terms of reinstating this as the club’s ethos, culture and driving force. The run in will contribute to this being our approach for next season. If we fail to use this opportunity to rediscover and develop this as our core identity, I fear for next season and those beyond.
It’s time to find out who we are and who wants in.
That would have us in the top 4, so is complete wibble..Yep. And if we'd had our first choice 11 available for the majority of the season I think wed have been above them.
How was the DAZN broadcast?Luckily I slept through most of this shambles as I was recovering from the New York card last night. Seems I made the right choice.
Glad to see that we made plenty of changes, maybe Brendan isn't as barking mad as I thought previously.
This is the take-home for me for the last few matches. We’re not anywhere near scoring enough goals to see off teams. I’m not bothered about today, but it does continue the theme. This was the 5th successive game where our xG was less than one.
0.88, 0.54, 0.79, 0.24, 0.27
Be interested in views on Soumare from people who saw the match. on commentary sounded as if he had a reasonable match.
It wasn't bad to be fair. The commentary was pretty good, they called it fairly well for the most part. Laura Woods was on point as usual between fights, she deservedly gets praise as a host, doesn't mess about like others. I'm glad Adam Smith had nothing to do with last nights show, listening to him growling his way through a six hour broadcast would have been a nightmare. How was the DAZN broadcast?
