Anyone tried the Bernina express:102: . Mrs BB and i travelled up from Cadenabbia on Lake Como to a place called Tirano on the Italian/ Swiss border. We boarded the Bernina express at Tirano and travelled to St Moritz in Switserland. What a fantastic trip.......breath taking scenery, steep inclines, Glaciers, watefalls, and spectacular mountain ranges. Recommend it to anyone:icon_wink

That looks like the Exeter area. I went on the train to Torquay last year and it looks very similar.

It's Dawlish.

Do I have to post one now for getting it right.

Oh, wrong thread!

I was on this.....
VIRGIN Trains on Friday 22 September 2006 achieved a new train speed record on the 401-mile route from Glasgow to London with a non-stop journey time of three hours and 55 minutes – an impressive average speed of 102.5 mph – beating the previous verified southbound speed record of four hours and 14 minutes set by British Rail's Advanced Passenger Train in the 1980s.

That's how long it takes me to get back to Leicester from Manchester and that is on a bloody good day as well!!

Actually the cheapest way to get from Leicester to Manchester is usually to change tickets at Nottingham (you don't necessarily have to travel into Nottingham though, you could go via Derby). Works out at around £23. No need to book in advance.

Yeah, thats how much it costs me for a return when I just get my ticket before I get on the train. However, that is with a Young Persons Railcard where you save a third on the fare so cost for a normal ticket would be about £34.50.

I have never been told it is cheaper to change at various stations as on the ticket it just states where you depart from and where your destination is. The quickest route is to change at Sheffield.

Hope that helps :icon_wink

So if you took Jeff's advice, you would get your ticket for less than £16. It's not actually necessary to change at any particular station - you can buy both tickets at Leicester or Manchester before you start your journey. And, as Jeff says, it's not even necessary to travel via Nottingham to get the advantage of re-booking these two tickets via Nottingham - this is because of a horrendously complicated tome, named the ATOC Routeing Guide. It;s Jeff's bible.

Theres somebody on the other city forum(Foxestalk) who loves trains. He's called Standupandsing. I know him personally, he's such a wanker. You can normally see him walking around the train tracks in Loughborough.
