How atmospheric and poetic. Just getting a thunder and lightening storm down here in Kibworth.

Stormy times at LCFC too. My advice if you are a Leicester fan is to get yourself a good umbrella. You have to put up with a lot of rain to get the rainbow.:icon_sad:

Plus some sunshine thrown in. :icon_sad:

Well I'm confused. I followed the link to the BBC website and it seems that some clubs in the football league are still doing buisness...
1900 Burnley secure the services of defender Duane Courtney on a two-year contract from Telford.

£2M+ for that useless little shite! And some of you are depressed?? Go figure; I can't.

None of us who are in the depressed camp feel that the amount paid is bad, but we would rather keep Connolly or get in a suitable replacement. Neither of which has been achieved. ;)

yeh he wasnt the best striker we have ever had and we have got good money for him. People wouldnt be worried if we had signed what we viewed as adequate replacements for a club of our size, which is fairly big in this division. But we have lost the one player who could stick the ball in the net and no one to replace him.

Lets face it we wouldnt have beaten stoke if we hadnt had DC playing.

So has the funkin window closed or not?!? Burnley signed someone at 7:00!!!! two hours past the 5:00 deadline.

OK - understood, but I don't agree we haven't got a suitable replacement - if Hulme has more than a willow's physique and isn't afraid of shooting without taking 3 or 4 touches, then I know I'll prefer him to Connolly (I already prefer Elvis to Connolly); won't you?

Connolly had a record of putting the ball in the back of the net for Leicester.

None of the other centre forwards at the club have obviously bar Hume who now has a massive expectation on him which is not his fault.

But where will the fickle fans fingers point if Hume doenst hit the ground running?? Striaght at CL. I personally like and rate him but hes put a lot of pressure on him and Hume.

Is it published or not, who can tell ? :102: Certainly it would seem League transactions are still occuring (sp). :102: ;)

sorry pontus - I don't agree...sure he scored some goals, but think of the chances he wasted. I reckon he should, on presentable chances, have scored 25+ last year, and - blasphemy of blasphemies, I think even Panikbuy would have.

Clubs can still complete transfers AFTER the deadline has passed. Contracts and medicals, and the papers being sent to the FA after the deadline, as long as a fee has been agreed between the two clubs and personal terms have at least been discussed, apparently.

So I'm guessing that's the only deals still going through.

And I'm not disappointed Connolly has left as such, and I'm certainly not disappointed with the fee we've got (especially if by some miracle Wigan stay up!). What I AM disappointed with is the lack of a decent replacement we've got for him. Hume scored 15 goals in League 1 last year, and 10 the year before that. Not particularly great, especially when he now has to step up a league. Plus we need a striker who will score 15 goals a season MINIMUM. Even if Hume can achieve that, we still needed another striker AS WELL! Bar Connolly, the rest of our strikers are crap. Dublin, De Vries and Hammond... They've started a combined 50 league games for Leicester (with an additional 19 sub appearances) and have scored a combined 7 goals! We desperately needed another striker, with Connolly here, but we couldn't afford it. With Connolly gone, it gave us the money to sign 2 new strikers. Even if Hume CAN get 15-20 goals for us this season, the money from selling Connolly should have been used to buy another striker who can, shockingly for a striker, actually bloody score occassionally!

Selling Connolly for £2m gave us the oppurtunity to get in 2 players who can score goals to replace 1 player. Instead we've signed 1 player, who isn't even prolific in the League below.

Terrible day for us, I feel.

I understand that a team must contact the FA before 5.00 (a Fax is used a lot of the time) and inform them of any dealing that have been completed. the details may not be formalised and on paper but as long as the FA are informed its ok.

Don't know how it works but they've put the Hammond and Hume transfers as being 6pm.

I guess the BBC are just showing the times when the official notification is given via club press releases and not the actual times the transactions take place.

i would love to hear homers view on this situation and also anyone else think it was more of a case of the board wanting to accept the offer then Levein?

But incredibly you've all forgotten "Johnny X - the invisible striker", our secret secret weapon, ladies and gentlemen I give you Lee '2 starts' Morris.

It sounds like DC wanted out, no point in keeping him if his heart is eslewhere, it's the feckin replacements that are the issue. The Hammond signing is a non entity as he was here til the window anyway, therfore Hulme is a direct replacement for Connolly and we don't have the extra striker we so deperatley need.
