Clubs can still complete transfers AFTER the deadline has passed. Contracts and medicals, and the papers being sent to the FA after the deadline, as long as a fee has been agreed between the two clubs and personal terms have at least been discussed, apparently.
So I'm guessing that's the only deals still going through.
And I'm not disappointed Connolly has left as such, and I'm certainly not disappointed with the fee we've got (especially if by some miracle Wigan stay up!). What I AM disappointed with is the lack of a decent replacement we've got for him. Hume scored 15 goals in League 1 last year, and 10 the year before that. Not particularly great, especially when he now has to step up a league. Plus we need a striker who will score 15 goals a season MINIMUM. Even if Hume can achieve that, we still needed another striker AS WELL! Bar Connolly, the rest of our strikers are crap. Dublin, De Vries and Hammond... They've started a combined 50 league games for Leicester (with an additional 19 sub appearances) and have scored a combined 7 goals! We desperately needed another striker, with Connolly here, but we couldn't afford it. With Connolly gone, it gave us the money to sign 2 new strikers. Even if Hume CAN get 15-20 goals for us this season, the money from selling Connolly should have been used to buy another striker who can, shockingly for a striker, actually bloody score occassionally!
Selling Connolly for £2m gave us the oppurtunity to get in 2 players who can score goals to replace 1 player. Instead we've signed 1 player, who isn't even prolific in the League below.
Terrible day for us, I feel.
