Both Stephen Hughes and Gareth McAuley made it into the team of the week. ;) :038: :038: :038: Well done lads. :icon_bigg ;)

Ok Hughes played slightly better than expected but he was still shite.

well done to both of them:023:

2 from Barnsley in there as well

And why the fcuk is Coventry's Michael Mifsud at left-back?

He is a striker!

Hughes is better than many give him credit, IMO.

SO when do we get to see it then?

So far I've seen no evidence to support anything other than he is a pretty average midfielder at this level, drifting in and out of the game as easily as he drifts in and out of position.

We HAVE to do better than Hughes if we are to have a midfield capable of providing for our front men.

Hughes looked a very good player when we signed him and like so many others he appears to have suffered at the hands of our fantastic coaches and the tactical genuises known as messers Levein and Kelly who continually managed to stifle and suppress most of our more talented individuals.

Under the right coaching and a manager brave enough to be positive and play decent passing football Hughes and many others would show week in and week out their obvious talent

Agree 100%. And sometimes he has the ability to boss games. One of the problems is that we all slag off players so much on here (rightly so too may I add sometimes) but when those same players do put in good performances, many are afraid to admit it.

Well said again!

I always thought he looked pretty good when he first came down to Leicester.
One of my housemates is a Rangers fan and he is always very surprised when I tell him how poorly he has played over the past 18 months or so and he said that he was a very good prospect at Rangers, just got sold because he was too injury prone and couldn't be relied on.

Too true Alex, also there has to be a recognition that previous regimes have continually selected to play players out of position or play a tactical game that does not suit their playing style.

IMO we rarely if ever saw the best of players like Gareth Williams, Momo Sylla, Stephen Hughes and Ryan Smith to name a few because of the tactical failings of our previous managers.

I posted this a few weeks ago, but i can't remember so apologies if I'm repeating myself.

My neighbour is a rangers fan and he watched Hughes on a number of occasions up there, when he's been with me to City he says he's unrecognisable from the player he was and that Leicester have "ruined him".
