Would be nice to see Gary Johnson back in the Championship though, always been a good lower league manager.

Northampton Town

On 4 March 2011, Johnson was announced as the new manager of Northampton Town signing on a two and a half year deal. His first season in charge almost saw the club relegated from the Football League. At the time of Johnson's appointment Northampton had only lost one of their previous seven games, but a disastrous run, in which the club went eleven games without a win, saw them slip down the table. Under Johnson they had only managed to pick up six points, and it was only by beating Stevenage in the penultimate game of the season that they secured their survival. Northampton Town and Johnson parted company by mutual consent on 14 November, with the team having secured just four wins in the new campaign.

Odd definition of "good".

Nothing at all wrong with Prof's definition of "good". It's a sure thing that he has no clue what the word "always" means though.

I stand very much by my statement and I was well aware of his failure at Northampton. Every manager has bad spells throughout their careers. Bad spells don't make you a bad manager. Was Brian Clough a bad manager at Leeds? Was Bill Shankly a bad manager at Huddersfield? Of course not, it just didn't work there. Johnson has done enough over his career to show he's a very good lower league manager throughout his career.
