Not surprisingly LCFC have decided not to reduce ticket prices as a result in the reduction in the rate of VAT. They've decided to give the extra to charity instead.

Chief Executive Lee Hoos is quoted as saying this:

"For example, an adult ticket is £23, minus the 2.5% equals £22.43"

It concerns me that someone in his position has such a poor grasp of maths. The actual cost of a £23 ticket once you've adjusted the VAT to 15% would be £22.51, not £22.43.

The thicko has simply reduced the price by 2.5% :081:

F**king dimwit!!!!

you have to laugh at that, and then worry that he is involved somewhere in the financial side of our club :icon_neut

Why is it up to them to give my money to charity! I want to have the lower price charged to me then I will decide if what I save is going to charity. I am not too sure if this is legal what they are doing!

Remember charity begins at home......

It would be legal for them to put up the prices half way through the season, and that's effectively what they've done.

Other clubs, including Leeds and the sheep have decided to cut their ticket prices.

It's legal, they are simply upping their ex vat prices and then donating 2.5% to charity.

I would think the decision is partially down to not wanting to piss us ST holders off.

I can assure the club that it would take more than a few pence extra discount to non-ST's to piss me off.

This whole 2½% reduction off the standard rate is simply gesture politics anyway.

you feckin ST holders are all the same..........:icon_bigg

They aren't legally obliged to pass the VAT cut, they are perfectly within their rights to just keep it as it is and not even do this charity payment thing.

Comical isn't it? A £23 ticket would be £22.51, not £22.43.

Edit: Bollocks, just seen that Jeff has already worked that out........

The sad thing about this is nothing to do with the money itself and where it is going, but everything to do with the club's failure to appreciate the mood of the fans.

And to say it's due to "logistical issues" makes them look like they're totally incompetent.

Other clubs have managed to reduce their prices without complaining about this. Ours just can't be bothered with the work involved, it's easier just to fob us off with an excuse.

Assuming, of course, that the mood of the fans is that they all want their 2.5% VAT back...

Personally I think it's pretty decent of them to donate it to charity. Why not? It's pennies - if you can afford tickets to football games, you can stand to lose - or not have refunded - what amounts to about 49p.

People always forget (or don't bother thinking about) what businesses have a deal with when things like VAT change with virtually no notice. It was a nightmare for me when it went up to 17.5% - I practically lost three days just sorting it all out. But typically, the public expects the business to sort it quickly and effeciently, without moaning, AND to pass the discount on as well, so it's a lose-lose for the retailer. The best you can hope for is to not look too bad...

So City donate the difference to charity, and yep, they're the bad guys! :icon_roll

Selling football tickets is not like having a shop full of stock that needs to be repriced. There are only a handful of 'products', it's not a difficult job. Plenty of other clubs have done it without making up ridiculous excuses.

A lot of people can't afford to go to games. A lot of people have told the club that our matchday prices are too expensive. This is the perfect opportunity to take a step in the right direction and reduce prices, but they've hidden behind 'logistical issues'.

Our prices are second only to Leeds as the most expensive in this division, and Leeds have responded to the VAT cut by reducing their ticket prices by a pound.

It's a nest full of vipers down there, ain't it? Hang 'em, I say.

Hanging's too good for them.

If their shopping cart system is any good it should be dead easy to change the rate of VAT. Log in, and change one number.
The fact that it's still using the old rate means either they're incompetent or they're trying to rip people off. Incompetence looks the most likely.
