believe it or not, the club is still getting the same amount of money per seat anyway, the ticket prices have not gone down the feckin VAT went down. People who bought ST paid VAT at the going rate, anybody who buys one now will pay VAT at the going rate.

Effectively the ticket price has increased. The only reason the club is not getting more money per seat is because they have chosen to give it away.

we're having a similar discussion on one of our forums as our club have decided that due to 'a logistical nightmare' they will be donating the windfall to our youth set up.

1- if VAT had gone up 2.5% would it have still be 'a logistical nightmare' ? I doubt it.

2- the 33p that the club are donating is my money and frankly they have no right to donate it to anyone unless they increase the nett of vat figure to accomodate the new rate of vat within the £15 entrance fee.

I run a small buiness selling high value goods, yesterday I sold a product for £12,900 plus vat, my client was incredibly understanding when I told him I'd charged him 17.5% and donated the difference to our Apprentice scheme.

But this is football. It has been ripping people off for decades.

The online club shop is still charging 17.5% VAT. If you add something to your basket it shows you the VAT being charged, so they're not even trying to hide their incompetence.
Technically, that probably amounts to fraud. Especially if it shows on your VAT receipt. I'm sure you have a legal eagle who could confirm this?

It's now two and a half months since the VAT rate was changed and it's still being calculated at the old rate on the club's online shop.

Haven't they made it clear that they have no intention to bring it down?

It's not up to them how much VAT they charge. They're showing the VAT part of the price as being 17.5%.

I agree. They don't have to lower the selling price but it is illegal to show an incorrect VAT charge.

stop buying stuff then.simple

I wasn't planning to buy anything anyway, their delivery charges are a complete rip-off.

But I would expect any business with a reasonable level of competence to have sorted out the VAT change well before now. The fact that they haven't just reinforces my opinion that the club is being run badly - or they just can't afford to pay someone to do it for them and the financial situation at the club is worse than they're telling us.

It's all about extra illegal income. On tickets sold since the drop in VAT, they have said the club will donate the extra to charity...... Yeah of course they will.

The new season tickets are supposed to be frozen, but if they charge the same as last year then they are charging out at 17.5%. There should have been a slight drop.

When you estimate roughly the tickets sold and add up all the little bits of VAT it comes to a very nice tidy sum. I bet you could be looking at £60K+
