as long as we get enough to sign a couple more decent players then.....

:039:

Have to agree. The squad needs strengthening in several key areas and selling a player or two is the only way we are going to finance it.

Unless fresh investment is obtained, than it is realistic to expect a player sale, however fresh investment is still being pursued

That'll be charging fans 50p to vote for MOTM I presume!!!

Well people pay up to vote for the X Factor, Big Brother, Strictly Come Dancing etc so why not.... if fans are willing to pay (nobody is forced to & they can post there views for free on here instead)

Will be interesting to find out the take up numbers

i wont pay for rubbish like that! Surely its mainly women that pay for programmes like that because they are the ones that mainly watch them.

It wont work IMO

I would imagine Stearman would rightly jump at the opportunity to join a side like Villa, they have just recently been taken over by an American Billionaire and have appointed one of the top 5 British managers in the game, they are on a real roll at the moment.

I would look for a minimum 2 million + 500k in bonuses and a sell on clause, Stearman whilst certainly not the finished article, has potential in abundance and is a far better investment than Connolly ever was when Wigan signed him.

I agree. Spearman is still very young, but has played a load of games for us, in what is not his 'natural' position!
The fact that he *can* play on the right wing at this level and put in a decent performed when he's actual a center back shows he's got talent.
He's also got a eye for a goal (overhead kick against Sheffield Wednesday!) and seems to have a good nack of being in the right position at the right time.
IMO he's are most sellable asset at the moment.

Saying that, he's still got a lot to learn. And was rubbish the first 2 months of the season!

Really?! I'm very surprised the board rejected that much. I would expect us to sell for about that price. (plus a sell on free ;) )

TBF, the club did say they were under no particular pressure to sell any of our good players. Plus, Strearman is on a reasonably long contract. The club were I assume looking long term, thinking his value could only go up. Now we've set the benchmark, Villa will have to pay a lot more than Sunderland's offer to get him.

I would want more than 2 million for him. Villa have some money and we should not bow to derogatory offers.

5 million plus easily for a player of his age and promise. They say defenders grow into the role in their mid twenties.

In any event I think he is best off here at the club he supports. We will be up there again if someone ever sees fit to invest. That is the only great difference between us and Villa.

Bugger off MON...
