Day one being this season or last season?

Weren't you the guy who, two days ago, was bemoaning the fact that all of these guys who were good enough six months ago have suddenly been deemed surplus to requirements? And I think you referred to the people on this forum as being 'idiots' for not seeing that.

So, that applies to Oakley, Howard, Brown, Berner... all over 30s. Why doesn't that apply to a 20-year-old who arguably outplayed all of them last season?

I wouldn't get rid of him, that would be insane

I'm merely commenting on the fact that from the minute he signed permanently he has looked a haunted desperate man on the pitch

He's looked desperate since he signed permanently, certainly. But I agree with Syd that letting him go would be slightly surreal given the circumstances.

I know he's not been playing much o'r particularly well but as others have said to lose two young strikers in short order would be madness. Particularly as we wouldn't get anywhere near our 3 mill back.

Waghorn is a good player but, he clearly does not fit in to Sven's system
"Sven's system", as Sven has said himself recently, is 4-4-2. He's only playing one up front because he doesn't think our midfield is strong enough.

remember him stuck out on the wing earlier in the season?
Yep, it was when Sousa was manager.

Particularly as we wouldn't get anywhere near our 3 mill back.
I'm sure the numbers haven't been disclosed, but the rumours were more like 2m plus add-ons which wouldn't come into effect yet.

Presumably signing Waghorn was a MM production. There can't be much doubt that we paid well over the odds - and possibly Waghorn has become affected by unrealistic expectations. So basically we've managed to turn a useful if one dimensional player into a surplus article.

Sven and Fazackerley have lifted us away from any immediatel threat of getting relegated and will have very different ideas about individual players to Pearson and Sousa. My concern about Sven's potential signings are that they will be driven by past reputation rather than current form and the owners wanting 'name' players. That sort of approach rarely works.

We've had two encouraging seasons prior to 2010/11 - and now we are back in a mess. A different sort of mess of course and hopefully Sven has the experience to be able to sort it out.
