Went there to a cup match in the 70s. Lost 1 0 . Frank mcklintock was manager. Miserable day. Horrible game. The memory I have of that was outside the stadium and a city fan was trying to climb a temporary barrier to join his mates in the queue. Not doing any real harm but a copper grabbed him, threw him to the ground and twatted him hard on the skull with his truncheon. Kid lay there for a while. Some other fans went to help him. Think he was OK.

Never been. Might go, might not.

West Mids police were right out of control that day. There were lots of truncheons being swung about. After the game I saw a city fan who was already handcuffed lying on the ground. Two coppers deliberately stamped on him and their mates just let it happen. They then turned him face down and dragged him away by the handcuffs. Bastards!

That was the only previous time we've met in a cup competition. FA Cup 4th round and lost 1-0. It is also our only defeat to Walsall since the year 1900.

That team doesn’t look all that bad on paper.
It was that day and for nearly all of that season, we just couldn’t score goals
what I remember from that day was the terrace being ankle deep in mud.

Great draw for us. Forest out, Coventry out. Newcastle and Chelsea out. It's not been a bad weekend at all.

Walsall manager has a good cup record against us, he was Newport manager in 2019

That ground (Fellows Park) long gone, now the car park of a Morrison's supermarket. Would be an interesting venue for the upcoming match.
