Howard aside, we've only signed a 35 year old journeyman and 3 loan players (none of which have any championship experience). This is hardly the transfer blitzkrieg we were promised.
Where is the left back and the experienced midfielder that Holloway mentioned were needed to guide the younger players through?
Isiah Osbourne is half decent, but him and Clemence alongside two junior hungarian wingers will not have coventry or anyone else arse quaking.

Does anyone feel a bit dissapointed that only 1.65 million has been spent and we don't seem able to win competition on wages over any other clubs for the like Martin, Norris etc.

It may be only Jan 11th, so time to go yet. But we don't have the luxury of waiting it out. We'll be bottom by the time he gets more players in!

We've had 10 and a bit transfer days so far out of a total of 31, and already there may well be 5 new players in the starting line up tomorrow

Unbelievable :icon_roll

If today was the 31st you would be right. :icon_wink

a) It's the 11th January
b) Why did you expect to spend more than £1.65m
c) Norris is still at plymouth
d) It's not just about wages - Martin has joined a team not 4th from bottom that has 2/3 players he already knows and is near to his usual manchester base playing for an a man united legend.. why would he choose us.

what a wanky statement to post.

Please tell us or show us where the proof is that these new signings, permanent or loan, will not work. As for saying "junior" Hungarians, well has one not got a full international cap?

Not too long ago we only dreamed of spending £1.65M.......

Sparky, I think you may have shot one off a bit quick there....

I am glad we're not throwing money about willy nilly, I think it's much better in the long run that we seem to be getting players in who IH either rates extremely highly (Howard, Alnwick) or knows from first-hand experience (Hayles, Hungarians). Throw in Osbourne and a left-back, and perhaps another CM and we'll be in far better shape.

Be patient Spanky.

i knew it would provoke a bit of comment, but Howard aside, you can't say hand on heart that you are expectant of any of the other oufield signings being that good. Kaebi had 50 iranian caps but was shote. this fella got looked at once by hungary and now doesn't play. Trust me I want them to be giggs and kanchelskis, but there's nothing whatsoever to go on. We haven't even offered them permanent deals.

There's no evidence that it won't work. But some quality championship experience in midfield wouldn't go a miss.

And i stand by the comment about not having the luxury of waiting until the 31st. It'll even harder to bring in new players if we're joint bottom after saturday

im sure both the board and ih are well aware of our situation and im sure theyre doing all they can in bringing players into the club but why you need to get your high horse now when there is still almost 3 weeks left of the window i really dont know :icon_roll

Patience is a virtue that not many Leicester fans hold, frustration, boredom now thats another thing

true enough!!! im actually quite pleased that ih is making a start on bringing in new blood and trying to rid some of the crap this early on in the transfer window

Reading a story in todays mercury, it looks like a few deals have fallen through.

Ian Holloway has not been busy enough for his own liking - and says Leicester City have seen nothing yet.

Five signings since the transfer window opened 11 days ago might seem like plenty of business, but the City boss is impatient for more.

As he prepared for tomorrow's derby against Coventry, Holloway said: “I feel like I have done nothing really. What we did have planned, and what we hoped to do, a lot of it has fallen through.

“We have lost out all week on deals we hoped would be done to get some balance here, because people have had to play out of position. I have tried to bring people in to help us.

“I had a couple of pieces in place but I lost them. Such is life, onwards and upwards.”

One target was Manchester United's Lee Martin, who has gone to Bryan Robson's Sheffield United, and the move for Graham Kavanagh from Sunderland seems no closer.

The influx so far seems radical enough, but Holloway stresses that it has not really been a case of adding to an already unwieldy squad.

He said: “If you look at what has happened, I have lost Carl Cort and brought in Barry Hayles. DJ Campbell is not fit so I brought in Steve Howard. My goalkeeper was taken away from me so I have brought in Ben Alnwick. Jonny Hayes has gone to Northampton on loan, so I haven't actually gained five players have I?

“That is how I do things, bring one in and let another out for better balance and a bit more experience in certain areas.”

Everything is geared to turning the corner as quickly as possible, and Holloway said: “We lost to our near rivals in the table, QPR, and then went out of the FA Cup which was very disappointing.

“But it is not all doom and gloom, and we have to get back on an even keel by winning a couple of games in a row, which these new players have been brought in to do.”

Does anyone feel a bit dissapointed that only 1.65 million has been spent ...

After the manic spree of the last close season which netted hardly anything of any worth, I'm pleased that the club are taking a little more time over it this time round.

Holloway himself admits we haven't done enough and that he hasn't achieved near to what he wants in the transfer market. It's easy for people to say that we have to be patient. But it's the same people that will be saying that it's not good enough if the hungarians flop, hayles looks off the pace and we end up playing Ngotty in midfield again. Like Ollie says:

“I feel like I have done nothing really. What we did have planned, and what we hoped to do, a lot of it has fallen through.

“We have lost out all week on deals we hoped would be done to get some balance here, because people have had to play out of position. I have tried to bring people in to help us.

I was expecting less: but, having said that, I like what I know about the deals that we have done. Holloway has targeted players to fill positions rather than the demented child in a sweet shop approach which pervaded our summer signings.
If he can find more players, better than we have now, I hope that the club will move for them but, as with Fullop, I do not want to see overpriced deals or, as in the case of so many of our summer signings, rubbish for the sake of being seen to be doing something.

Trouble is its going to take him a while to offload some that are under contract, unless someone comes in with an offer for them (Highly unlikely on the form they have displayed lately.)At least some will go in the summer when their contracts end, then the freed up wages will be able to be put to better use

true enough but at least he isnt/wont tolerate what we have now which can only be a good thing
