Pop, to add to this and in partial agreement with others - Vardy is getting fewer and fewer chances per game and therefore his miss today goes down as a bad one.Go back to the pre match thread in which many of us expressed concern over Chilwell as a LB. If you still think he should be starting games in that posotion, I give you that game as Exhibit A. He was appalling from the first minute as was Dragovic.
We had a huge gaping hole in midfield through which Watford attacked us again and again and we just couldn't create anything at all. I don't blame King entitely for this, although he was largely anonymous, but that just isn't his strength. Iborra should have started if he wasn't injured and we could have rested him against Liverpool, a game we wouldn't have complained too much about losing.
Okazaki was well off his game today as well. He wasn't as much of a nuisance as he normally appears to be and that, combined with Vardy's poor effort on goal in the first half, meant that we were always going to struggle when they went a goal up.
As he sees less and less ball facing goal he will naturally snatch at chances and his hit rate will reduce. I am not advocating the long ball but at the moment the blend isn’t quite right.
Chilwell is much better playing ahead of Fuchs, at the moment (and only experience will tell) he doesn’t read the game well enough to fill the role of a traditional LB.
****, for all his faults we really missed Simpson today. He doesn’t get enough credit.
