an away support in the midst of a battle with the coppers

Seeing the trouble over there was a surprise to me. I've been to Watford a few times and of course they've been here and I've never seen any problems at all.

Even when Muzzie's header relegated them they were fine.

Any idea what went off?

Apparently Gallagher's wild kick of the ball post penalty hit a child supporters head. His Dad went off on one and a lot of their support joined in.

EDIT: Forgot that actually. Just heard that a couple of their support lost their rag and took exception to the City fans winding them up. The coppers did a West Brom by the sounds of it.

Yes I agree; a midfield player sitting back and helping out the defence after having a man sent off. What was he thinking! You're right - he should be criticised for this ineptitude forthwith!

Did you not read the rest of that paragraph then?:icon_roll

In many games this past year he has pushed forward and made himself very much involved in games, today he didn't do that, which meant he had a quiet game. So yes, a SLIGHT criticism compared to what we've seen from him this season. And we played only half a game with 10 men btw......he was quiet for the first half as well.

Was that it? Summat else must've gone on though, we saw all the stewards pile in and drag a bloke out(who started swinging his arms about which led to him getting punched MANY times by the stewards-even a woman one!)
But the way the Watford fans reacted to it led us to believe the bloke hadn't done much wrong, cos they were going mental and gesturing towards one of the stewards when the police got involved. tbf when folks get dragged out and they've acted like a cock, you don't normally get the others fans reacting the way they did.

I have just been reading one of the forums....my edited post sounds more likely. Sounds just like West Midlands Police at West Brom.

Ah that was nice. A few beers in the sunshine, an entertaining victory and then a barbeque, I am full of meat (oo'er), beer and chuffed to bits with that win.

Howard was ****ing stupid to lunge at their player, although I was about 200 yards away and couldn't see exactly what happened. It was a stone wall penalty, very nicely seen into the back of the net by Waggy - Our new top goalscorer if I'm not mistaken? Snorting volley by Gally and then two lovely finishes by Britany Spearing and Vaughan. Jubbly.

Good performance from the lads,no doubting the dubious penalty set us on the way.

Spearing reminded me of a young Robbie Savage..ran his heart out,Hobbs for England( not to late Capello :icon_wink) and Vaughan looked good when the balls were played through the channels.

As for their penalty shout, never a penalty..Berner definitely handled but his arms were down by his side

tbh from where i was sat, it didn't look like it was the police, it was defo the stewards who were involved, the police just got after the bloke had been taken out.

Saw what happened...when Gally scored one of our players booted the ball into their fans....one caught it and threw it down, it hit a steward who went mental even though it clealy wasn't malicious. Then all hell broke loose and he was dragged out.... trying to say he had done nothing wrong, so the steward acted totally stupidly and so did the rest of them and the police. Could have got much nastier.

Was worried that Pearson made all three subs by 65 minutes, risking us going down to 9 men if someone got injured. Vaughan pulled up just after but luckily saw out the game. Gambles we dont really need to take. But hey, he must know what he's doing!!

Did you change ends between the penalty and Howard's lunge, then?

Was very very impressed with Spearing today, thought he was excellent in the middle. Again I hardly noticed Andy King, still not sure whether its because he does a sound job of everything or whether its because he doesn't get in the game.

Morrison was poor. Wellens, Weale, Hobbs were all excellent.

Can't believe most of our fans clapped Howard off, it was a ridiculous, needless challenge - red card or not. I don't mind so much if a player gets sent off to stop the opposition from scoring a blatant goal, ala Cardiff on Vaughan. He could have caused us to collapse which I was half expecting, and of course I assume he will be out of the first playoff semi final leg presuming we get there?

Thought overall we played well but they were dire, can't believe they're a team fighting for their lives. There was more fart than fight.

Yes it was a penalty - no doubt whatsoever.

Yes it was a red card- no doubt whatsoever. A two footed challenge in mid -air with no contact on the ground is always so. Stupid bastard. Just as stupid as the morons who stood to applaud him off.

MOM definitely Wayne Brown. A colossus.

I did, rather unfortunately, read the rest of the paragraph which had in fact, no bearing whatsoever on the criticism, however slight, levied at a player who tidied up all afternoon. Why, when praise is delivered, does there always have to be a bitter aftertaste?
