Academy See Off Watford
Posted on: Sat 27 Oct 2007
Two late strikes were enough for Leicester City's under-18 side to see off Watford as they ran out 3-1 winners at the Belvoir Drive training ground on Saturday.
Billy Kee thought he had opened the scoring on 8 minutes when his over-head kick found the top corner of the net, but the referee ruled out the goal after spotting an infringement.
Robbie Burns broke the deadlock on 32 minutes when his left foot strike nestled underneath the Watford goalkeeper to make it 1-0 to the Foxes.
Watford responded early in the second half when a high ball into the box was misjudged by City goalkeeper Alex Cisak, gifting the visitors with an equaliser.
City began to push forward in the later stages and they got their reward when direct free kick from Ashley Chambers on 84 minutes put the Foxes back in front.
Ricky Sappleton forced his way through the Hornets defence two minutes later and slotted the ball home to put the game beyond doubt.
