Weakest Position

IMO our weakest posistion is central midfield.

if we actually had a threat in the air i would say the wing was more important, but with our strikers we need a bit of creation in the middle. While i think williams has the quality he is never far forward enough to do any damage, passing from the centre circle is never going to split defences.

If we had a class winger, who would head home the crosses?

I kept saying this on Saturday, no matter how good or poor our crosses are, we never, ever look like scoring from them

I think this is why its so hard for Sylla, he is intelligent enough to see there is no point beating the full back and getting a cross in. all he can do is come inside, and with no creation in the midle the possession is always wasted.

Feckin hope he doesn’t read this site or he will be using that in his next post match interview.:icon_roll :icon_lol:

please dont make excuses for the most inept player at the club.

Left back, Johannson was out of position alot on Tuesday. The majority of goals come down the left it seems. By far the worst player at the club, followed by Johnson.

Why???????
A cross doesn't have to be a high one to the far post. A cut back from behind the defence, a low hard driven cross or a near post ball would all suit our strikers.

We desperately need some creation in midfield, whether this comes from the middle or wide I don't really care. Imo Williams could provide it in the middle if paired with Tiatto or Weso and so my priority would be a wide player probably right side if we are keeping Welsh.

I thought last night was his best game for ages, he got stuck in and worked hard and delivered some good crosses from set pieces. His crosses from open play weren't so good, but not awful.

Couldn't agree more, and I cannot believe some of the comments on this thread. Sometimes I suspect you see what you want to see - you don't like the bloke so you see bad in everything he does

He had a decent enough game for me - and certainly a better game than three or four others I could mention.

An essential starter for the QPR game if fit
Webbo and Homer were obviously watching the same game as me, I agree with both of you,:038: top posting.

Johannson is not a natural left back but he is fast improving in that position and was quality against Palace & Villa.

I thought he was fairly poor against Palace but seems to have had a good game against Villa (wasn't there to see). He is at best adequate as a full back. His lack of pace exposes him and his reluctance to push forward leaves LM playing too deep. Suffers from being played out of position.

I don't think we have a specific weak position, but if were to improve anywhere, it would be Right Midfield and Left Back.

Definately Centre midfield. Wesolowski is good, but there's no one decent to partner him

Can anyone think of a possible centre mid player for up to £500 000 who may come in if RS leaves?

Richard Hughes - portsmouth
Mark Pembridge - fulham
Glen little - reading

i think our lack of an out and out left back and the problems on right wing are issues but i agree with those who say central midfield is a problem - muzzy izzet showed the importance of having just one high quality central midfielder in the adams promotion season.

cant think of many people who might fill the gap - shaun newton at west ham is one possibility, doesnt seem to be getting a look in there, still got a few years left in the tank and has always done well in this division. also if we did a deal with villa for stearman theres lee hendire, whittingham and patrik berger
