I'm still trying to understand the thread title: are we saying that our best player is a weasel?

No. :icon_roll More that we have heard this kind of crap before and nothing has been done from the players side. Then after a poor defeat this kind of crap gets spouted again. Words that mean bugger all. :icon_evil

What makes the situation most frustrating is that fans had every reason to think the team would be transformed this season. I looked forward to seeing Kishishev run the midfield, DJ racking up goal after goal and Kaebi showing why he was supposed to be one of FIFAs five best young players in the world. Presumably Hellings was going to be challenging Clemence and Kishishev for their places. It never occurred to me that Kishishev would turn out to be poorer than 18 year old Andy King or that we would need to borrow a striker or that half the clubs youth team would be better than Hellings. I mean no disrespect to Andy King, Joe Mattocks or Ashley Chambers when I say that their presence in the side is a sign of how poor the experienced players Martin Allen brought in are. Yes I blame the players. Even more I blame Martin Allen. I blame Milan for picking Martin Allen though I praise him for getting rid of him so quickly. The one person I do not blame is Ian Holloway. In fact I agree with every word he said after the Hull match.

I blame all of those responsible for bringing in crap players this summer, and that wasn't just Allen. MM is just as much to blame for some of those players as Allen is for the ones he brought here.
Just as that 'scout' who we got rid of in the summer(for the life of me I can't remember his name), he really got us some top quality signings didn't he?

But I also blame the players who ARE capable of playing this level of football for being utter shite this season and playing with a disinterested attitude.

As fans all we can do is get behind the team and support them vocally. What else happens is up to those players out there wearing the shirt. And so far every single one of them bar perhaps Fulop has been found wanting.

Course they don't, they've all got lucrative contracts that pay them thousands of pounds every week regardless of if they play good, bad or indifferent. This is the crux of the problem, they just aren't motivated. I bet Carl Court is a millionaire and a few of the other aren't far off. Unless they are on the telly, playing against a premiership side or one of their mates is in the opposition, they simply don't give a flying toss. I can't think of one 'run of the mill' game in the last few seasons when anyone in the team looked proud to be wearing the shirt.

The players are simply a bunch of mercenary journeymen, they are not Leicester City, we are.

Unfortunately (for us that is), I think you are about right.

I'm sure that the young kids care - but given the bad vibes all around the squad, they will tend to soon become like the Stearmans - much more interested in the trappings that go with being a pro footballer than in improving their game.

As you imply it's a mistake to sign on the way down injury ridden high wage players like Cort who probably has delusions that he was once big time. The money he will be on gives all the wrong messages.

It needs someone in charge to bring in some discipline and sort things out. Is the jokey Holloway the right man to do that? I hope he is but have my doubts.

Naive though, how many did Allen bring in & how many were down to Mandaric?

Clearly Mandaric and the chief scout who was sacked after about a month spotted the players. However, with the exception of Ngotti, the last final decision was with Martin Allen. This is shown by the way he was able to change the deal he had previously agreed with Hasselbank thus messing the player about and embarrassing the chairman. I would gather from his book that Ollie and he and Penrice are likely to spot their own players and the list is likely to be less exotic and more sensible. I have no way of proving this but my gut feeling is that if Ollie had been appointed instead of Martin Allen we would have had a better balanced and more "battle hardened" squad and not be in our present mess.

wise words indeed:023:

Brilliant BF. All too often the players are overlooked when apportioning blame. Absolute ***** at Hull.

Nobody is blame free alex, nobody.

The Manager, the coaching team, the players, the Chairman and his sidekicks. All of them are responsible.

True, but the comedy of errors leading to the Hull penalty was atrocious, no one aside from the ***** in blue were to blame there.
