Wouldn't it better to spend the money on Cancer Research? Raise lots of money at the game/testamonials/Tournaments and donate it to related Cancer charities rather than an statue for Leicester fans?

Just my opinion. I'm sure Weller would rather help others than have a statue put up.

I know what you mean, but I think it is possible to do both...we could cover the cost of the statue and give any remaining proceeds to cancer research. Alternatively if you feel strongly about it you can arrage for cancer research to direct debit you for a small sum each month...I personally donate to them a little out of my wages...in the hope that it could go a long way.

Great call Dunc, we should name the West Stand after him, and then organise a pre season tournament every year in memory of Keith Weller and any profits should be donated to Cancer Research, this would be a most fitting tribute to a great servant and ambassador to our club, and do some good in his memory.

maybe the same sort of tournament the FT did towards the end of last season??

i'm pretty sure plenty of teams would take part.

i still think we should have a statue as well though- it's a permanent reminder of the man-as much as i'd like one of the stnads named after him, there's always the chance in the future them being renamed.

Could do, but we have to stress here that the FT tournament will be to raise money for the FT - we do very few fund raising events & do need the money ourselves to continue to invest in the club.

so you could do a tournament in memory of keith weller but any money would go to the FT and not to his family or charity mmmm priceless

A bit cynical Lazzer but understandable.

No - we were already having a tournament but were willing to consider haiving the trophy in his name, but wanted to make it clear from the outset that if we did name the trophy in honour of Keith that the money was not being raised for a related charity.

We were trying to make sure that anybody taking part was not mis-led
