Many people thought that Gareth Williams was to blame for Hull's goal on Boxing Day. I'm glad we didn't drag him off the pitch as a punishment and thereafter play with 10 men - his later contributions won us the game.

I think the goal was more down to the back four's decision to play musical statues whilst Fagan shot.

OK - I'm not a big Williams fan on the whole, but since he's come back he has proved that he's better than anything else we've got at the moment.

No, he doesn't work for more than 30 minutes of every ninety.

Yes, he gives the ball way more than he should do.

But, he does do things that our other midfielders cannot do, and often a pass or shot of his will lead to a goal.

So although he can do feck all for 89 minutes and 50 seconds, what he does in the other ten seconds seems to often lead to a goal in our column. Given the current level of our squad, we're gonna have to live with his perceived faults, because he is proving to be the best of what we have
