Nobody now you've gone back and re-read anything. I still believe the implication is plain to see though.

Anyhow forget it, it doesn't matter.

I like BH, before anybody jumps down my throat, I just believe he was very, VERY bloody stupid to say what he did.

I read it correctly the first time. Where in my post did I say you were responsible for the speech comment?

I agree he could have been a bit more diplomatic in his choice of words, but I'm sure we've all said things we wish we hadn't. :icon_conf

Admittedly a poor choice of words. It could be that he meant did he have a choice in leaving? Anyhow, I just think knocking a bloke because he has a speech impediment is pretty low. :102:

As you well know, your post (the top one) was aimed at me.

I apologise for being under the assumption that only half of it was in reply to me, I wasn't clever enough to distinguish which was in reply to me and which bit wasn't.

I can now see that you might have been just speaking out load.:icon_roll

ps, you want a word game war, look out :icon_wink

when i heard him speak on the radio i thought it was dion dublin on speed.

I always say that footballers only know one thing,
And the only one thing that Hayles knows is how to play football,
Have you heard Beckham talk? Now he sounds bent and he carnt even get in the England squad.

Did you read his words when told he was going to leicester City to play for them:

"Do I have a choice in this"?

Sympathy gone from me.

Are you really demanding that people should lie about what they feel?

He was probably settled with his family down Plymouth way, and at 35 thinking he's going nowhere else. Then he's punted on for a (relatively) measly £150K without being asked. Fair do's he's actually come rather than just saying, "Feck it, I'm injured or retired from now on."

Tact and diplomacy is a much more preferred method to lying or the all out truth (if potentially offensive).

If this guy turns out to be an MDV or Cort, and in two months this story came out, then there would be uproar.

Fickle football fans, they see no wrong in what he says until it's decided that they don't like him. :icon_roll

and do we have a choice in accepting him?

Well I'm quite happy to accept him, he seems like he could be a good signing.

I'm just disappointed his apparent intial reaction was that he didn't want to play for us.

who in their right bloody mind would want to play for us. we are a laughing stock.

Quite.

I think Melton is on a rare wrong track here.

I welcome Hayles' honesty - what a change, a footballer who tells it like it is.

From Leicester's viewpoint this could be a relatively decent signing. After all we don't have too many strikers whose reputation is based on actually scoring a few goals.

Why would Hayles be excited about coming to Leicester? The likelihood is uprooting his family, moving to a less attractive part of the country, most likely warming the bench for most games - and then being shunted out when his short term value is expended.

I do agree, Redditch. I am on the same line of thought as you.

But it was bloody stupid to come out and say it, we all know the mentality of the stereotypical football fan, and it won't endear him to those people.

I'm certainly disappointed he didn't want to come here, but I understand why he didn't.

Yes he was honest, but vindictive football fans are the wrong type of people to display that kind of honesty to.

i think he should have said:

"i'm moving to a club that is in a bit of a mess. the gaffer asked if i could come along and help out. play a few games and work with the youngsters. it's a shame really because leicester is a big club with good potential but they are in a bit of a mess. it's a challenge and i'm looking forward to it. in the long term I think we can do well but it's going to take a lot of hard work".

thats how i feel and how many fans feel. i think the sooner we start to admit our failures, the sooner we can start to realise our potential.

Spot on.

Yes - we had echoes of that stereotypical mentality and petty vindictiveness this week on the forum - when a pretentious and useless bunch (I have promised myself not to refer to them by name again) proudly informed us that they had advised our owner against the appointment of one of the few experienced and available managers who might have averted this season from being yet another write-off. I bet Mandaric can't wait to rush to them to receive their wisdom in the future.

The way I read the quote was that he was complaining about the way Plymouth treated him, not his new employer.

I think most people would feel a tad pissed off if they got a call one Sunday saying "As from tomorrow you have a new employer 300 miles away. Goodbye".

That's the way everybody read it OG :icon_conf

If not, they need shooting.
